I’ve chanted that many a time…never once did I really want the player to pass away on the field.
Soon we will be chanting:

Unsavoury chanting as you call it can get you arrested. This is not 1964. I’m not saying that shouting “ hope he’s dead “ will get you arrested but there are lines that you can’t cross any longer.
It’s unacceptable. In my view. Not illegal but certainly it’s crass. But are you saying that they are just thick youngsters messing around which makes it ok? It’s about standards I suppose. Meanwhile you carry on shouting “hope he’s dead” if you feel it’s appropriate. |

It's not illegal so the police won't do anything, the stewards aren't doing anything but if you walked across and told them to stop you'd be told in no uncertain terms to go away. A failure to do so may well end up with the stewards and police involved.
We can only hope these kids grow up sooner rather than later but after a few too many beers and attending an emotive sports game, a lot of people have been stupid and a lot still will. |
