Well worth a listen to some excellent analysis from Fitzo.

I can't even get the feed to load. Can see others crystal clear. Got to the point where I look forward to away games as there is an actual chance to watch the game.

Gotta be shite infrastructure at Dale as too often to be a coincidence...

Really? Dale need to keep pushing for a third.......

Much better. Thoroughly dominated for large portions of the match and the scoreline did not flatter us. I said at half time that we were only a goal away from a big win, and the team did us proud in the second half.
Noticeable how we didn't pass pass pass for the sake of it today. we never allowed Yeovil a second on the ball and they couldn't live with our pressing game.

Well done to players and Management today.

Eh? We played well first half but weren’t clinical with the chances. Second half we were. Good performance with Ayinde and Okeke standing out.

Fitzo’s comments in the podcast were proven to be very astute. When we play at pace with the wide CBs pushed on we look a good team. Well worth a listen.

Well, there can be absolutely no complaints about that!

For me, best home performance since we were in L1. Could've/should've gone in ahead at half time but came right out of the blocks second half and Yeovil couldn't cope

Much more progressive in terms of forward momentum and a couple of our goals came from just going direct. Mitchell stopped chasing one of the long balls but then suddenly decided he might as well, which resulted in the penalty

Was willing Hendo to score ahead of his birthday and nearly grabbed at least one, after Jim's timely subs brought on a whole new forward line and pleased to see Burger grab the fourth to really cement our superiority. Feeling much more positive after that

Just as an aside: four students from Manchester University came and sat next to where i was in the second half. We got chatting and they were on a tour of football grounds near Manchester. They really enjoyed it; i told them they should come again...

Two youngish gentlemen in Wimbledon track suit tops in the Directors box. I asked for the name of who they were watching. Claimed thay had just come to watch the game - the most senior wearing a large smile. Could they be scouts perhaps?

If so they weren’t doing a very good job of staying under the radar…
Thought at HT it was going to be another one of those days, good football but no cutting edge. Superb 2nd half, we kept at it & they couldn’t cope.
More of the same Tuesday please lads!

City leading after going more direct. Something Guardiola noted this week about teams like Bournemouth and Newcastle progressing with a style that’s becoming more noticeable.

We were direct when required today too. As we have been previously to good effect.

Is there a change in the air?

Well done to BJ and the players.
Starting to look like real promotion candidates whilst some of the others are faltering.
Very positive performance especially in the second half.
Same again against Boston please.
No fear.

Whether there is or not, the idea that "this is the game these days" would be something permanent is, and always will be nonsense

Football will continue to change and evolve, as one way of doing things gets "found out" so enterprising coaches decide to try something different. What we saw today was the most direct (at times) i've ever seen us under JM. To think that he might therefore fall into the "enterprising" category isn't entirely out of the question

It puts those who've advocated the passing-for-passing's-sake style in a bit of a quandry... how do they save face, when things change?*

* they don't...

There's been certain posters on here who've tried to justify the ridiculous regarding the over passing with the ball and the obsession with shitty negative possession all the time, even when it's been glaringly obvious it was costing us more than we'd ever possibly gained from it.

Thankfully teams are finally seeing the light.

Really can’t remember who has ever defended the slow, possession based stuff at the back as being the best option for this squad. We’ve always been at our best when playing at pace and looking to go forward within the structure McNulty has developed. It was even the same last season when we had less options in the squad.

The argument was whether the game’s over reliance on ball retention or playing out dangerously was ingrained or whether there could be a shift. Time will tell and it’s hoped managers and players can see the benefits of playing a style which is entertaining and effective.

Ayinde man of match but a very big shout out for Okeke who i think Yeovil will be glad not to play against again this season.

It’s funny how people see the game differently , and that’s how I saw the first half - we started the game slowly, then got into the game, clearly causing problems on the left wing, but with no edge in the six yard box. We then started to try to pass the ball into the net. Yeovil were poor, really poor but as the first half wore on we gifted them two great opportunities to score through footballing in non footballing areas which we were fortunate they didn’t convert.

The second half, we got better and they got worse. The result was fair in the end. Yeovil turned up resenting the long trip north in the hope of giving us a game, that’s what their coaching staff were saying loudly in the Norton Grange on Friday night. That attitude got them exactly what they deserved.

The second part of my half time post was about the attendance, which given we haven’t played at home in a Saturday since November was poor and we are probably further away from 5,000 home fans than when the idea was announced. Something I’ll be asking the Trust to raise at the forum.

What was the attendance today? I must have missed the announcement.
Great all round display from 2 to 40.
Don’t forget that Waller made a superb save late in the first half. Lord knows they wouldn’t have deserved to be in front.
The two wing backs were awesome. Yeovil couldn’t cope with Okeke’s pace and TAR put in some really telling crosses.
I don’t know whether it’s a permanent change of policy or whether BJ and his analysis team had identified a Yeovil weakness but we were a lot more direct. Plenty of long balls over the top whilst Ayinde looked different class. Gilmour and East showed a lot more inclination to press forward as well.
The thing now is to show some consistency as the games come thick and fast.
