This is cracking. At first listen, the album's a belter, too.
SAw them last year as I really love their stuff. BUT.......listening to them for an hour with every song literally beat-less made for a very long and boring evening indeed. He has a great voice.
If like me you like dins of the dubby/bassy kind, the new album from Sherwood and Pinch is rather wonderful. Nothing on YouTube so hope this SoundCloud link works:

Ya, they're a bit same-y!
"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."
The new Everything Everything is them back at their best.

Tally, they sound like Abba. Where on Earth do you find these female fronted rock bands?!

Heard this earlier by Katie Von Schleicher (?) and thought 'that sounds weird'. Then watched the video which somehow manages to be even weirder! From her new album 'Shitty Hits'..
Here's one for you (available on YouTube): Pallbearer - Heartless.
Don't be put off by the name, it is heavy but melodic and very musical (although somewhat removed from ABBA, naturellement)

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."
I've done my own playlist for the last 5 years, based on stuff I've bought this year. Give this a whirl on Spotify or whatever. Don't blame me if you don't like it all.

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime." (Mark Twain)
Find me on twitter @derbyhoop and now on Bluesky
Brian and ElHoop mentioned them at different times throughout the year, but I have to chime in with Cigarettes After Sex. My favorite of the year by quite a distance. Will see them in April in a venue that should be about the right size; cannot wait.
Distant second for me (yet wonderful) is Slowdive's self-titled.
