FSF Statement On Minutes Silence For Margaret Thatcher
FSF Statement On Minutes Silence For Margaret Thatcher
Wednesday, 10th Apr 2013 10:19

The Football Supporters Association have issued a statement to clarify their position on the subject of a minutes silence for Margaret Thatcher at this weekend's football matches.

"The FSF backs the decision made by the football authorities not to impose a minute's silence across all fixtures this weekend to mark the death of Margaret Thatcher. Should individual clubs wish to hold a minute's silence or commemorate the passing of Margaret Thatcher in their own manner that is a matter for them.

"We would expect that most fans' thoughts this weekend will turn to the friends and families of those 96 fellow supporters who lost their lives at Hillsborough 24 years ago."

Good decision IMO...her death is as devisive as her life. Lets keep politics out of sport

Saintandy11 - I'm with you mate, lets have a rousing chorus anyway to celebrate the woman who sold off electricity, gas, water, railways and put more old age pensioners in prison (over poll tax) than any other Prime Minister.

Politics schmolitics. Sport shouldn't be mixed with events outside sport, just like celebrating the death of an elderly lady has no place in a civilised society.

So apartheid would still be in force in South Africa if we all buried our heads in the sand like you bstokesaint.

Ardas fail to see your point. Having a bit of self respect and disassociating politics from football isn't "burying your head in the sand". Each to their own though.
