A good pal of mine is a cycling journo who was doing an interview with Williams after he'd been here a few month and I felt was starting to have an effect with a squad that for my money was often pretending to be injured.
My mate asked me what I thought about the job he'd done so far. I said that whilst I didn't know the full ins and outs, he did seem to be having an effect. I ended with "Hope he keeps telling the c**ts what's what".
My mate then forwarded that message, unredacted, to Williams.
He replied "Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep trying to drive incremental improvement"
there are also some neat settings too, so I've set it to show replies from people i follow to people I don't, as you see some interesting stuff that way, but you can turn it off, or set it up to 3 replies down
It doesn't, but more is geared towards showing you what you follow, whereas X and Threads is geared towards engagement. On X in particular this has been accelerated by people paying to go to the top of the pile, but also the large amount of content farming which is mostly self promoting automated accounts
I absolutely love trains but a few years ago my wife was gifted her mum's car and now we always drive to see friends. Makes me sad, nothing better than a beer and half of M&S' snack selection on the way to see pals but I just cba with the horror of the way home where loads have been cancelled, no reservations and being stressed af for 3 hours
This is something that doesn't seem to be landing with people - it's not "woke", the site doesn't function properly anymore. I work in advertising and it's hard to recommend clients advertise there. There's a brand safety piece for sure, but functionally we can not guarantee you are actually reaching the numbers of people they claim they are
A friend of mine moved to Sharrow Vale in Sheffield a couple of years ago and now we use his house as a staging point for a Saturday at either Headingley or Trent Bridge. Ashoka is mandatory Friday night. Elite. The Reyht Spiceh Curreh is the stuff of dreams
Saw them at End of the Road and it was absolutely phenomenal. Then saw them at Moth club last week and whilst the lads gave their all, the crowd for some strange reason was just full of really quite old dudes who spent the whole show checking their phone. Was v odd
I enjoy the champo reddit (The "You Got Inced" memes a couple of years ago were stunning) but there's a couple of weirdo QPR posters on there who give me the creeps. Good fun overall though.
My favourite thing to do on there is to tell Americans asking what game to go to to go Millwall in a West Ham shirt
Warburton has become one of those topics where nuance seems to vanish and he is often pitched as this catch all saviour robbed of his time here by Evil Les and all that needs to happen is for him to come back and all is forgiven.
I'd start by saying I loved his reign here. We played lovely football, had some top players and on a personal level getting to watch his QPR teams with my dad in the last years of his life was a proper joy.
With that said, in every season in charge he oversaw quite sizeable losing streaks in each of his seasons with us. We were second in the league and took another 15 points from our last 17 matches. If fans had been in the stadiums during the first half of the Covid season, there is no doubt in my mind he would've been fired.
He was financially backed, failed, and left no lasting legacy for the club bar the Eze sell on fee. I know you can't go in for all the smoke and mirrors ITK stuff, but it's also a bit much to (rightly) coat of the youth system, but then indulge in some of the parts of first team culture he allowed (Andre Grey).
Whilst I have a lot of time for him as a human, he has also fallen out with pretty much every club he's ever worked at.
Love him, but we have to take the good with the bad and take a nuanced view of his time here. Obvs Nourry is a charlatan, but I'm not sure Warbz would be a success
