Sheffield United have now had 5 seasons in League One and to me that speaks volumes. They've gone after decent managers and invested in good players and are still down there.
TT - I think you make a valid point about 'preparing ourselves' for this appointment and maybe Oyston deliberately saw Westley so that whoever else was appointed would be greeted with feigned delight at NOT getting the 'bad Steve Cotterill' (not that I like him either!)
What sad news - 64 is no age these days and I only saw Chris a few weeks ago about Blackpool. Glad to see that as well as all the tweets on the story page that Blackpool FC sent one out as well ...
This is an interesting one because undoubtedly the best three teams in the league went up and the worst three in the Championship came down and the teams that got in the Play Offs were no great shakes and tough to see anyone who finished further down the table really going for it.
There is a chance there to bounce back at the first opportunity but the question is will we take it.
Problem here Steve is where do you start? There are just so many that have come through the doors in the last few years - many of whom signed and we didn't even see play. Do you go for someone like James Beattie who came, failed and went or do you go for someone like Sene who kicked the ball a few times and we made our minds up about them.
Fair to say we've had more bad players than good and sometimes maybe best to leave it at that!
As my name suggests I am an ST holder and interesting I went along to the ticket office on Friday because we want to move seats in the west closer to the halfway line and they were saying they have had a lot of requests for details and tickets purchased and looking at what's available in the west it looks like the majority are staying put.
If we're to move on then we need to do so without idiots like this polluting the club, bad enough that odious family does a bad enough job but we don't want this car wreck of a player anywhere near Bloomfield Road. Nice first problem for the new manager to sort out!!
Was Curtis Thompson Steve Thompson's son? Pretty sure he played for Bamber Bridge at some point and he was OK but nothing to shout about and wondered if it was a case of the Steve McMahon Juniors!
Good signing for Chesterfield if they can get him - have wanted him for years at Bloomfield Road. Someone like Billy Sharp could still do a job in League One - you need a previous 20 a season man who knows where the back of the net is and still has a passion for the game. Not easy to find and the money KOKO will be offering will see us fall short of getting such a player.
Am amazed how many people on Twitter are saying he 'would have done a job in League One' .. are some fans so deluded that they think League One is going to be fall of hoofers and dodgy footballers! Doesn't work like that and Perkins will be below average in an above average league.
Is there only me who was never actually that impressed with him? Played a few decent balls but was fairly anonymous in most games and I think he would have gone missing again very early on next season. Clear as soon as the Oriol's went that he didn't want to be here. Can't say I'm that upset.
Has anyone else felt really disconnected from the Premier League this season - I don't know if it's just because Chelsea won it early and actually the relegation spots became inevitable some weeks ago but haven't even bothered with MOTD for weeks now.
