"Used to post on QPRNet.com as 'Dave Thomas' Socks' - hello to anyone who frequented that board".

I was often on there, posting nonsense using the moniker Midlands Hoop.

I messed up my registration for LFW and had to change my ID to the one I have now. Hello 👋

"Playing the quarterback role".

Oh my, that one really does my head in

Then there's all this modern focus on "turnovers". You what? Do they come with custard? Clotted cream?

Very wise and interesting stuff. That tinnitus matching software is impressive, thanks for sharing 👍

I suffer from it too, I think it all started when, as a student, I was stuck next to the monitor in a crowded pub, while a gig was going on.

"But we all know goalscoring strikers are rare and expensive".

Great post. Alternatively, damp tissue paper works well, I've used that method to protect my ears successfully at quite a few gigs, including an indoor Iron Maiden one.

On the subject of hearing, years ago, my mate told me that his friend was worried that he had permanently damaged his. His teenage son, I learned, had wanted to go to see his favourite band, but his dad wasn't having that because he was too young.

So, they went together.

Now he's got hearing problems, my mate explained.

Me: "Which band was it?"

My mate: Some lot called Slipknot.

Me: "Oh right" .

The moral of the story: Always do your research first.

By the way, the recent film about a heavy metal drummer who loses his hearing, "The sound of metal," is amazing. You can access it via the iPlayer.

Why didn't one of our lot just smash it clear then? A very sustained period of pressure. Yikes!
