I don’t necessarily disagree with some of the changes. But would Marti have played that team if it was a league game? Pretty certain Dunne, Nardi, Frey, Smyth and Morgan would have all played. And potentially Fox. That’s 5-6 changes. So, he didn’t take it as seriously as a league game. That’s fine if that’s what he thinks but he should say that. Previous managers have got pelters for similar decisions. |

He’s never developing here to end up playing for Newcastle. I think his contract is up at the end of the season. We’ve basically got a season long trial with him. |

Young compared to Kakay vs Millwall He’s just turned 23 and has played what 20 championship games ? Kakay played 100. Ridiculous comparison [Post edited 11 Jan 19:48]

Well we lost 3-0 to Swansea and then had 3 excellent results. Main issues are 1) Madsen just doesn’t seem up to it and 2) who do we pick as centre halves and right back. Other than Dunne, who are the other 2 for Plymouth? |

The strength from the bench won that. And of course the fight from every one of them. To a man their effort was superb. |

Still not “erratic” though which was the point made. Varane primary purpose is there to protect the back 4 not create. |

Think he’s being too cautious since then. He raced back to try to get to Chakvetadze and should have taken him out but decided to not give away free kick and get a yellow. Then ball layed off and we conceded. It’s a tough one as he does the foul and it’s free kick in dangerous position but think we were very stretched so take one for team. |

For me his impact is shown when not playing. We looked open and lost against 3 poor teams in a row, Hull, Derby and Portsmouth. All 3 are poor sides. We need to have someone who just sits in front of back 4 to provide a shield. |

Well if that’s his attitude, we should definitely get rid of him. |

Needs to go end of season. Don’t care if he comes back and does well. We need to have players who can stay fit. |

I totally agree we only get likes of JCS and Adel because they have other “issues”. But Morrison played 30 games for Wigan last season and has had surgery this season. Playing him every game since wasn’t sensible but was necessary. |

I like Field but I’d rather Dunne was captain. Field comes across as a bit quiet and considered. Good traits but not for a captain. |

I’d say it’s a bit of both. Chair injury is bad luck, as is first Morrison injury which required surgery. These 2 have had a knock on impact for the others. With Morrison it meant that Cook basically played with no break and I’d say that contributed to his recent injury. Chair injury and then Dembele has meant a that Saito and Smyth are basically playing every game. Then you add the 2 injury prone JCS and Colback, leads to a lot of strain on a youngish and new squad. But that said, I’d say serious questions need to be asked about how we deal with squad fitness. |

I think you raise some good points to be honest and agree it is childish to just ignore someone because you don’t agree with them. That said, I don’t agree with you about Marti. Performances have fluctuated significantly but then I think that’s more down to having 1) injuries to key players and 2) having to play players constantly without a break when I don’t think that was the plan for eg Morgan, Varane, Saito, Morrison, Kolli. They will be inconsistent as they’re young and/or new to the league. We need Colback, JCS, Chair and Frey to come back in and step up now. They’ve barely played this season and need to shoulder some of the weight during this period. We also need Madsen to show something to make us think he was worth paying some money for. |

Can’t play Fox. I’d move Dunne alongside JCS. Ashby on right and Paal on left. Chair in for Saito. Maybe Madsen for Morgan. Let Morgan go full steam in home game. |

But that shows what fantastic job Marti did last season and how fortunate we were with injuries. Pretty much all players who left haven’t done much and players that were massive for us, JCS, Chair and Colback in 2nd half have been injured. With Dykes and Armstrong going, that’s over half your starting eleven. Makes it very tough. Still, today was maybe our worst game but game before that was our best. JCS is back, as is Chair and Frey. So, I don’t think we need a massive upheaval or panic. |
