I recall that in 1976 we drew 0-0 at home to Sheffield United. A few fans were moaning- not many- and Frank Mc publicly roasted them- fair enough, There were the usual ' I'll take (sic) ( as if they had any choice) the draw' section. I accepted that sometimes you do not necessarily prevail in eminently 'winnable' games but I had an awful feeling those 2 points might be critical.
Scowen- does anyone remember when someone ( Scowen's agent- wife' ?) told Ollie that Chelsea were ready to pay big bucks for him. Ollie stated it publicly but said that Scowen decided he preferred LR and that showed what dedicated lad he was.? Hope Ollie ( whom I love) was neve offered a Thames bridge.
defensive ability and positional sense but very much comfortable on the ball.-
The latter is worth an extra player. In his early days, Dickie was touted as at least sufficiently comfortable to sweep in front of the back line at the base of a diamond. Is his regression in this respect all about confidence? Does someone suddenly become less adroit? Is it a function of the level in which you play.? i understand that Laird and Kakay( and Dickie) began as forwards but we now are aware that they often have difficult passing beyond the first defender.
