I can,t really see much wrong with Hull City being called Hull Tigers. It wouldn't worry me for example if we changed our name to Swansea Jacks. Colour change a different matter, but name change like that would brighten up the league.
Tigers V Jacks...I'd rather like that. on 13:25 - Jan 16 by mikl0s
Once teams loose their city/area identity it's the slippery slope to franchised sports like in US. Has happened almost every where in every sport that has adopted that kind of naming scheme.
I hate it - because what has happened also in many places is that big corporations are now team owners so you are supporting company brands and not your local team.

Red Bull Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg both play in the Red Bull Arena - now there's an idea for Emperor Tan to think about if he's looking for a buyer

I think Liberty Jacks sounds good. It's catchy.
this is the worst comment ive heard on here. You wouldnt mind renaming our club after a sponser.?
anybody who would be happy to change the name of the club is a idiot. no financial benifit, its just one step closer to becoming like america where you can pick up a franchise and move it to london etc.
nice to know some of our fans wouldnt have the fight if this happened and would be happy to bend over.

There's a lot of negativity towards US sports from the UK, and I can understand the dislike of 'franchises'.
However, sorry, but they are way ahead of our sports in nearly every way. In terms of sports presentation, statistic presentation, officiating, replays, sports arenas, quality of the 'match experience' i.e. Food, drinks and merchandise...
Go to any american sport for example an NBA match or a NASCAR race and coming back to the UK matches feels like going back 20 years.
I know some aspects of US sports are a bit cringey, but they get unfairly criticised in my opinion.

What do you mean their fans don't watch their games? Every match or race is always filled to the rafters with fans. Sport is about entertainment after all, people tend to forget this.
