I dont know how many people tonight noticed that tonight when Preston got a free kick, after the whistle blew for the free kick to be taken, the player stood over the ball picked up the ball and placed it down and as soon as he put it down the free kick taker took the kick.
i am not a referee, but i was under the illusion that once the ball had been placed and the whistle blown the ball is then in play, if this is correct then surely it is hand ball and any subsequect goals would be disallowed, luckly for us none of these resulted in a goal.
would love someone (maybe a refereee) to explain this for me. thanks. |  |
