Swansea City v Queens Park Rangers : Match day Thread on 18:39 - Dec 26 by Fireboy2 | Most of know that our squad is threadbare, in August we got rid of 12 and got 6 in so it isn't surprising really but try telling that to the doom mongers |
And yet the more or less the same threadbare team goes on to have comfortable win because of better game management. The ball across the backs wasn't interrupted so was a lot quicker going from one side to the other, balls found the wingers constantly in higher positions up the park with players in support to create more chances. How many more balls into the channels were seen today. But for me the most telling was the play to relieve the pressure QPR tried to place on us, so rather constant pressure we were in the right positions to reduce the threats down out wings, fullback in tight on wingers then when able to be released forward with adequate cover behind them. All in all better game management and thus better play. We stopped them for the most part from putting us under prolonged periods of pressure.

Or because we weren't tired, we had franco to start instead of the headless chicken fulton and QPR didn't press us well in the first half. Could have been different if chair had started instead of being on the bench 🤷 [Post edited 26 Dec 20:17]

I thought one of the main differences today was Bianchini closing down and totally nullifying any attempt of them playing out from the back. They then had little or no possession. Without the ball you can't play.
Swansea City v Queens Park Rangers : Match day Thread on 20:23 - Dec 26 with 1326 views | onehunglow | Get a grip . Such pitiful superfan garbage from the “ usual suspects” Today, first half we were terrific and scored the goals we should have been scoring all season, with the same players. Thread bare or not. It’s weird ,QPR on. Great run ends by us stabbing them in the eye . Yet,we lose to the bottom clubs who were in terrible runs It’s showed today ,that even with a thread bare squad, weak bench etc, we can kick arse . Tiday for 45 mins we did . The second half ,again,we tailed off although QPR came back from being sure to just shite Really lads, it’s tiresome .. Quiet…it’s Boxing Day evening . It’s Christmas . We win yet the first thought for some is to have a go at other fans ,those they either hate or won’t exchange with mutual respect Today ,for me, ( my opinion, geddit) is that our coaching, tactics and game management have been la king . When we start a game with the right mindset,we can look good, very good. Branco…what a player ,yet pilloried by sone . Vipotnik.seen as not good enough gets one ONE chance and almost scores a screamer So, have a little respect for the views of others . And Eddie, don’t worry about those you see as suffering from misery . Be kind to yourself .

Swansea City v Queens Park Rangers : Match day Thread on 20:29 - Dec 26 with 1274 views | swancity | A very good Swansea City performance. Individually and collectively we were at a decent level. And tactically too. Within team sport, when most or all of your players are on song as they were today you will usually win. And it firmly puts to bed any nonsense only a few days ago about “ having to win to avoid a revolt “ or something along those lines. Congratulations to LW and all involved. Luke continues to do a fine job. It’s so easy to reflect negatively after a defeat . To be wise after the event. If only we had done this or that….. 10th place is better than par for us at the moment. Please remember this. And for the gloom and doom merchants out there try to take some positivity and joy from these games. It might help you to start enjoying things a bit more.

Franco isn’t pilloried by anybody. Not a single person. Vipotnik was better again today. Not just that shot, he had another chance where Franco played him in (may have been offside) and one where the ball was played into his feet, he was given offside, which looked debatable, but he showed for the ball, made the right movement and laid it off well. It didn’t come off today, but he’s starting to make the right runs and show signs of being on the same wavelength as his teammates. Could say the sane for Bianchini. Maybe the coaching Williams is doing is starting to bear fruit. As for Williams, great to see the East Stand chanting his name and to read his post match comments on Grimes.

My Mrs does a day a week volunteering at the local homeless den. They feed them , let them shower etc and use the washers and dryers. It helps. Some have fallen on hard times through mental health, life problems, and no fault of their own. Sad to see.

Second half was well controlled, maybe easier being 3 up rather than an edgier 2 nil but we didn't give a lot away because of better cover and better marking and still had a viable attacking threat which also reduce any pressure QPR tried to bring.

While it is true there is some inexperience of championship football all the players bar Lloyd and Abdullai have more than 50 games. Good keeper by all accounts Mclaughlin. Defence: Christie, Njoe an On, Naughton Midfield: Fulton ,Abdullai, Lloyd Forwards. MPH and Vipotnik. Academy kids not called on Govea, Parker, Bates Wilson.

Yes it’s true and your post highlights it superbly. Can’t really comment on McLaughlin None of those defenders are any competition at all for the four that start. As much as I’ve rated Naughton in his time here, any of them weaken us substantially straight away. Same goes for the midfield. There’s a reasonable argument for Fulton if we’re getting bullied and need to see a game out. Abdulai is a passenger when he comes on (maybe a loan would get him used to the intensity, but we don’t have the numbers for it), Tjoe A-On really doesn’t look good enough. Vipotnik is our starting striker most weeks and up until very recently has been pretty useless. Some encouraging signs the last couple of games, but he’s still way too raw. Same could be said for Bianchini and we have to start one of them. MPH is a decent option from the bench but isn’t in Eoms class. Someone said we’re 19th in terms of wages. Finishing mid table with the squad we have would be a great achievement.

Goalkeeper. Has anyone seen him play to comment. Defence. If we have such a good back up why are Canango and Darling never given a break even for 10 minutes. Midfield. Two of those are u21s, one who before yesterday had never played, so where is the strength in depth. Forwards. Neither are any good. Academy kids. Apart from Parker who is continually injured, the others are not deemed good enough yet. So where is the strength in depth.
