Hi All,

Burton Fan here!

Your manager Jim Mcnulty has become overwhelming favourite it seems for our job.

Is he someone you hold in a high regard or someone you're not fussed about losing?

What's his style of football/formation?

Best of luck for the remainder of the season (don't return the favour...season over already!!)

Very well put that man.

If Burton approached Dale and unlocked the right to speak to him, he would have been mental to pass up the opportunity, even 100% sure he didn't want to go there.

He came to Dale as a player and 'worked his way up'; speaking to Burton, gaining interview experience, a feel for how another club is, money, budgets, strategies etc. would be INVALUABLE for him in his professional/personal development and bank him some exp. in preparation for an interview he actually wants/needs to pass.

Will be interesting to see who Burton (not *Burtons the tailors*) appoint, when it's announced

The experience of this episode will, hopefully, stand the club in good stead, and all part of the learning experience not just for JM but for the new board

The full name of the firm was Montague Burton. In its heyday their biggest factory in Leeds was producing 30000 suits a week.
Apparently the phrase “the full Monty” originated here. Most men just bought a jacket and trousers but if you had a waistcoat as well you ordered the full Monty.

I remember queing to be measured for a new suit at Burton's by Mr Warburton, his son Richard was a mate of mine.

When I was at uni in Leeds, there was a hall of residence called Montague Burton.

I genuinely never knew that is where it came from. Thanks for the knowledge.

Baffles me this board. Constant moans about the type of football JM plays, when really you should support him and applaud the fact he’s trying to move with the times and play posession based football out from the back. Yet you think it’s alright that he was going to jump ship at the first chance and congratulate him on doing so. The mind boggles. Ah well.

I’ve done my best to support the manager’s way of playing, even if aspects of it frustrate, and can see how well he’s done constructing a good squad with an excellent team spirit. I also have no issue with a manager talking to another club if it’s been approved by our own. It’s happened before and it’ll happen again.

Edit: anyway, remember when Burton(s) sponsored Leeds?

Passion based football must be one of those new fancy dan phrases aspiring managers use.

Dont be baffled. The moans are when we play dumb football. Every fan wants us to have possession of the football - when we play with purpose and intelligence. The keeper playing the ball to a player facing our own goal with 2 opposition players ontop of him so he loses it and we concede is dumb. Playing the ball across our own 18 yard box to an opposition player and we concede is dumb. We can still score goals with 20,30 passes involved without playing dumb football.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

It really does feel like we had the Willie Wonka golden ticket in our hands and it's been snatched from us, I mean somebody actually willing to pay us money to take McNulty off our hands.

When was the last time that we actually played well? Fylde??

The reality is that a lacklustre performance is the most likely outcome following this week

Of course, for "some" it's fans who're to blame, for commenting on how events have unfolded, irrespective of club employees being in the spotlight. Laughable really...

A big performance required against Latics next week to get us back on track. I hope it happens, always wanting the best for Dale

Crucial period from now till the Xmas/NY fixtures
