Why? Why can't people see it's the owners who need removing? 21:25 - Oct 23 with 3025 viewsSouthamptonfan

Threads titled as astonishing and why is he still here?

Do people seriously think that the owners who appointed Jones and Selles, who bought a load of Man City reserves and Villa reserve players for PL failure, all to do it on the cheap, are going to spend tens of millions sacking a manager and then replacing him with a better manager (and if he's better he would want a lot more than RM wanted?). This is the same ownership team that could have appointed Dyche after Ralph, they could have appointed some decent managers instead of Jones and Selles. When is the penny going to drop, that the owners are the problem here?

If RM goes, these owners will koto attract a top manager to save us. The team isn't good enough for a start and a top manager would want money to spend on top.players. never going to happen under these owners.

At least everyone now knows for sure that the whole operation is geared around mid table Championship after the latest public backing for the hapless manager. It must have had them quaking in their boots when RM accidentally won at Wembley.

I thought we'd be mathematically down by xmas when the window closed, but we're down already, but SR are saving cash and RM is racking up possession stats. Great.

I fail to see how the business makes any money at all if the Club is mid-table in the Championship.

Nobody in the Championship makes any money.

Stripped of hysteria, an owner can be removed only if they are willing to sell or they are persons thought not to fit and proper to run a football club.

Looking at owners of PL clubs, that "fit and proper" hurdle is clearly very low and anybody who isn't a belly crawling animal can get over it.

Why would they sell now? A season the PL enriches them regardless of results. The parachute payments shelter them.

Selling after the parachute runs out might be viable, but that is three and half seasons away.

Why bother buying out RM's contract? As you say, another manager would want more money anyway, so it's a double hit.

Does SR care if a small number of fans who can be bothered to post here are unhappy? Nah! We make up what, a thirtieth of a full ground.

No, we will continue to vent or unheeded fury to no purpose.

Well said !!!! Unfortunately true.

That's right, in 22/23 which is the latest year available, only 1 Championship club made a profit. That was Watford, they made a profit because they sold off their PL players after they were relegated the previous season. That's obviously a one-off, you can't do that year after year.

So, it's nonsense to say that SR have a business plan of being a mid table Championship club. Also, If that's what they wanted, they would have bought a mid-table Championship club, or a League 1 club that they could build up. They wouldn't have planned to buy a PL club and run it down.

I don't have a problem with SR from a money point of view. They have invested a lot. Where they have gone wrong is that their football decisions have been moronic so the money has been wasted. The evidence suggests that is down to Ankersen and if Dragan can push him out or sideline him, I'd be prepared to give them another chance.

I've said this before, as long as SR have control it's not about winning football matches, it's all about making money.
Hence their insistence on buying young players in an attempt to sell them on for a profit.
But this only works if you improve those players by giving them game time in the Premier Lge.
Very short sighted policy in football because unless you win enough games in any lge you get relegated into a lower lge.
We're not a cash rich club & cannot compete with the big 6 clubs financially.
But nor are Fulham + Brighton + Brentford + Bournemouth but they all manage to survive in top lge.
Why - Because they purchase the right players at the right price.
Then put a decent Manager / Coach in place to prepare the players & devise a system of playing that suits the players.
Unlike RM who insists on asking players to stick to his ridiculous suicidal style of play.
All players at any level need to be comfortable in the position they play & understand their role in the team.
We have to many square pegs in round holes that includes the Owners & the Manager.

Fulham (and Crystal Palace) are an easy option for good players at top London clubs to move on without a major disruption to their lives, so they get a higher standard of players truly available to them. But you are right about Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth. I think Bournemouth are very much in the drop down and bounce back group, which is where I suspect Sports Republic are happy for us to be, and if we hang on in the PL for a couple of years, then that is a bonus.
