Walsall home - match thread 21:12 - Apr 5 with 31263 viewsEllDale

Before anything else is discussed could someone confirm that the kick-off is 3.00pm please?
The official site states this but I’m sure that I read somewhere that it had been brought forward to 2.00pm?
Thanks.

Yeah it’s 3pm. Think the misunderstanding was partly due to the Fixtures link on here having it as 2pm, as it did every game for after the clocks go forward. It’s now corrected to 3.00pm again, so probably something that’s automatic.

Or Chaff’s fault.

Still have nightmares about this.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

As they all are - another huge game for us today!
Let's hope for a great atmosphere in the stands, and a solid performance from the lads on the pitch, hopefully producing the right result.

Elsewhere:
Crawley V Bradford City
Grimsby V Hartlepool
Harrogate V AFC Wimbledon
Stevenage V Colchester

Hopefully all, or at least most of them will go in our favour so we just need to focus on doing our bit today.

Can't imagine Jim will go for mass changes to the side after the Wimbledon result, possibly one or two at most. Hopefully Mullarkey may return following the concussion protocol.

Up the Dale!

I'd like to see Quigley start and Odoh back out wide. Also think we should recall Campbell asap - seems Rodney will be out for a while, maybe the rest of the season. And Quigley will be unavailable for the Stockport game.

Bennett is also out for the season, after surgery

Aidy White struggling after two concussions

This info comes via the Dale Newsletter, popping into my inbox less than two hours before kick off, when many people will already be out and about doing their pre-match thing

Good that we've finally got these updates from Big Jim, but not sure why they couldn't have been informed to fans well before now. (Yes, it's on the OS from yesterday but how many people routinely check that?)

Best bit of news: Mullarkey's fit again

Definitely could be done better but at least we're getting some transparency now about injuries which has been missing for a while. Although oddly Jim didn't mention Adshead at all, can only presume he's still at Cheltenham convalescing and maybe won't feature now.

Toums is also out although hopefully only short term. If say Hendo or Brierley got injured we'd be struggling.

Dodgson possibly played him on, very tight.

Odoh up front makes sense when you remember Sauron never saw Frodo carry the ring to Mount Doom.

And it didn't look offside

Got lucky a moment before with the shot coming back off both posts but really should have been in front if Lloyd had squared it to Hendo for a tap in.

Jim: if you get the job, you do realise we’re sick of these goal kicks already?

You’re not being clever and we don’t care if that’s how they play at the elite level.

Dodgeson is Boromir. A tragic figure out of his depth but with a good heart. He looks up to Henderson and says "My brother, my captain, my king'.

It looked offside.

Let’s just enjoy the team actually trying to play football. There won’t be many better goals this weekend than our second.

I am. It’s the goal kicks and playing out when it’s dangerous to do so. We could have been two down.

Could easily have been 0-2 then Walsall just enjoy the sunshine

Apart from not achieving any advantage, it leaves both CBs too deep, allowing their forwards luxury room if the ball comes straight back

It really is absolute nonsense

Played some decent stuff there. 2nd goal was a great move and looked like Odoh's goal - as far over the line as Lampard v Germany. Their goal was close but might be a good call from the lino. Just need to stop taking unnecessary risks 2nd half.
