We have Barnes as cover and also the new wonderkid. I suspect Kelly will be sold in the summer, he's not happy being a number 2 and can get games back home in Haggis land so, why should he stay? And fair enough for him to come down here and try, then admit it's not working and be a true professional going back without any drama. I hope the QPR makes sure he gets a good deal and is treated with respect. That levels us with Dieng who I fear will be sold in the summer for probably £10m. We shall then have to buy another keeper as Barnes will be on the bench and I doubt the wonderkid will be ready. Selling Lums for even small sums, will hopefully with BOS pennies monies cover our Jan loans. Meaning we have some small monies left over to take a risk on the next set of roll the dice strikers we are trying to turn into rough diamonds, that someone else will pay us money for to turn into the real diamonds. Ala Eze. Remember we are not allowed nice things and if we have them, they will soon be taken off us.

Barnes and Lumley are both out of contract in the summer which only leaves Dieng and a couple of u23 keepers. Agree about Dieng being sold, for the right money. I think Kelly could be number 1 next year.

Very difficult with GKs, trying to guess value. They either seem to go for nothing, on loan or for silly money. Looking at this season's PL transfers, probably Ramsdale - Bmth - Sheff Utd for £20M is anywhere near comparable, so your £10M may not be far away, but its a very small turnover in GKs to the PL for money, so who knows? Think the summer may be a bit too soon for anyone to pay that - but that's just a guess, obviously!

Leeds we're looking for a new goalkeeper and arsenal only got the lad from Brighton in on loan for the rest of the season. So I think it is possible he could go. just watched a few clips of Kelly up in Scotland over the past few games and my observations were that he still doesn't command his area and made a couple of ropey saves.

Personally I dont think Kelly or Lumley are good enough to be number 1 for us at this level, so if Dieng is to go in the near term I would hope we would have an adequate replacement lined up.
Florists Interested in Lumley. on 17:35 - Jan 31 with 3600 views | Myke | Lumley wouldn't get into the Forest first team at the minute, but if they offered him more money to do the same thing he is doing now, even until the end of the season, he'd be mad not to take it. Walsh then promoted to the bench and number 1 when Dieng moves for decent money in the summer.

I really don't think we'll sell him before the summer and I don't think we'd sell him if Lumley or Kelly were the alternatives. We've seen the difference Seny has made to our defence this season and I don't think we could risk it.
Florists Interested in Lumley. on 18:02 - Jan 31 with 3524 views | CiderwithRsie | I don't see why Dieng should be sold this summer unless someone can show me why the club finances need it. - He's under contract to 2024 so no risk of losing a fee yet. - He's streets ahead of our other keepers and we've seen (as if we couldn't work it out anyway) the difference between a defence - any defence - operating in front of a Dieng/Smithies compared to one in front of Lumley/Ingram/Kelly. Sell him and the whole defence is devalued unless we buy a new keeper out of his fee - Different situation to Eze who played for us for three seasons, virtually ever-present for two. With both Chair and Dieng the obvious route is to replicate Eze - give them 2-3 seasons as regular starters, build the attack/defence around them when they're good enough (Dieng now, Chair maybe next year) and then sell while still under contract and they've done enough with us to get into the starting XI for a Premiership side or Championship promotion favourites, which is where the big money comes in and which I don't think either have done enough for yet. This new young keeper fits in exactly with that strategy but not at all with one where we flog of Dieng ASAP when the kid is too young to take over.

He's an excellent young keeper, and as mentioned above, there are some Premier League clubs on the lookout for one. At least we will receive a decent fee.

I think if the offer which comes in is big enough then you take it, otherwise there's always a risk that form regresses, bad injury etc. But the great thing is that we don't NEED to sell, which puts us in a much better bargaining position than for SAY Smithies, Freeman, even Eze really (although we did OK out of that eventually)

This! (A rare voice of sanity!) (For a moment, on seeing this thread, I was holding out hope that Lumley was considering entering the flower-selling business, though I fear he'd throw more bouquets into the crowd than water.) The way/speed things are going, I don't know why the club don't just put Walsh up for sale now to save him the trouble of having to actually play any games for us. The club created a splendid precedent with Bowler's 15 minutes on the pitch, and I'd think many here would applaud - just consider the benefits! We save a fortune on wages, bypass trivial matters like actual football matches, no worries about tiresome protests from the odd fan who cares about old-fashioned ideals like building a squad and team spirit, and all in all get 'rinse and repeat' off to a jolly fine art. https://tbrfootball.com/everton-talent-josh-bowler-faces-huge-summer-after-horro What this Josh Bowler who couldn't always get into a poor Hull City side? You clearly don't understand the rules about Premier clubs being able to snap up youth players for 'compensation', which Clive has explained a number of times on the forum. We didn't want him to leave but he wanted to go. At the moment he's likely getting an improbably large amount of money, for someone who's never played in a Premiership side, for sitting on his arse. His agent doesn't care, he's probably already made millions out of him. If he languishes in the lower leagues for the rest of his career, tant pis. Given his recent career getting a couple of million for him, at least, sounds a fair bit of business. If we'd been able to keep him we could well have developed him. But he didn't want that, so we had no choice. It's not that I don't understand the rules, it's that I lament the ethos, and the many factors that contribute to it. Even if it's the lowerst form of wit, my sarcasm cum playful irony also seems lost on you, but never mind.
