We short of knew... QPR confirm McClaren appointment - Column on 10:53 - May 20 by PunteR | I dont think it has been over played. In fact i think its been underplayed. Yes we had good players but that doesnt necessarily mean you bounce straight back up after relegation. Look how hard it was for Ramsey. Its no easy task to get a group of footballers focused and i think McLaren did that well. Wasnt we unbeaten for 20 matches? We got promoted and the team we ended up playing in the final was against Maclarens new team. You could say Maclaren was instrumental to getting both teams to the final. The bloke was on fire that season. I dont think his hair has fully recovered from it. [Post edited 20 May 2018 10:54]

11 beaten 2-0 by Burnley in the 12th match on the 26th October. Think your getting it confused with the Warnock Championship winning team which was 19, beaten at home by 3-0 by Watford on the 10th December.

I think your right, im getting confused with Warnock's team. Ta. Still not a bad record. Didnt Rob Green get the record number of clean sheets for a QPR keeper?

Let's see who McClaren brings in and what he does pre-season before he's written off. First game will be interesting. Lose at home to Brentford and the pitch forks will be out...win away at Forest on the other hand.

We short of knew... QPR confirm McClaren appointment - Column on 07:09 - May 19 by daveB | Has a whiff of when we appointed Iain Dowie because he had a good spell as a coach years earlier. I think as Clive mentioned in the article if we are going to dismiss Redknapps promotion due to what was spent i find it hard to get excited about what McClaren did with the team that summer, sure he's a good coach but making a team with Dunne, Green, Onouha, Simpson, Barton, Austin, Niko, O'Neil, Faurlin, Phillips, Hoilett and co hard to beat in the championship was never rocket science Tough job ahead for him, we have a few exciting kids coming through but still need a lot of work and some steel in the team plus need more goals which will only come from strong recruitment that McClaren is not known for. I think he can improve on this season but I wouldn't be expecting a massive improvement and a top half finish, am fully expecting more of the same next year. It's classic QPR in wanting the opposite of what we had with Holloway. Calm and dull press conferences, a coach rather than a manager, no changes to the team etc but despite me sounding very negative about it all I of course hope it works and that he builds on what Holloway had started to build. It's a crucial time for the club so we need to get behind him and hope he does well. No flaming torches from me, I'm just a bit meh about it all [Post edited 19 May 2018 7:09]

same here!... I'm also getting grief from mates and work colleagues. There seems to be a concessus from non QPR folk of "its one thing to get rid of Holloway but its another thing to get rid of Holloway and replace him with McClaren...whats the point?"....usually followed by much laughter. I'll back McClaren and hopefully be proved wrong but I cant help feeling its a step sideways!

We short of knew... QPR confirm McClaren appointment - Column on 20:30 - May 18 by 2Thomas2Bowles | No I think you are missing my point. I defended Olly and I'm not going to apologize for that. he fulfilled his remit. IMO he has been replaced by someone no better. That's poor by the club IMO. |
But it's happened now, Ollie has been moved on and now we have McLaren - so isn't it worth just supporting him and hoping he does well? It's not as if this appointment is made with no thought or logic, everyone can see that his USP should be a good fit for where we are as a club/team - i.e. nurturing and improving players - particularly young squads.
