Wimbledon were there for the taking and we could have been 4 up by half time.

In no way was that a lazy performance over the 90 minutes.
They worked their bits off each and every one of them.
The Wimbledon keeper made some excellent saves in the first half.
The conditions were awful,,swirling wind ,bumpy pitch,every time the ball went above 20 feet it just blew back to the sandy lane end.
What I would like to see is more of our lads having a go from distance rather than trying to pass their way thro in the box at times

Absolutely agree about the lads' efforts, Frenzied. I'm quite content to have made the 200-mile round trip today.
Yes, of course, 3 points would have been just reward and we'd all have felt a bit better if just one of those close-range shots had been made a few milliseconds earlier or later.
But the players are equally flummoxed and frustrated when their efforts don't always reap the spoils. Exchanged brief consoling words with Humphrys after the game and it was clear that the whole team still had great spirit.

I must have been at a different game to the op.
The man of the match for me was long who was brilliant.
In the second half he made more brilliant saves. We also hit the post. The referee failed to see the blatant foul on Davies as he was about to pull the trigger.
As for the conditions. The Sandy wasn't the nicest place to be. The wind was strong and the snow was hitting the back of the stand. |  |

It wasn't uninspired, as even then we created chances and did enough to win. There was a brilliant passage of play where we kept it on the ground up the left hand side of the pitch and created a good chance which was spurned. Then we went back to the aerial onslaught. We just can't buy goals at the moment. And we need to develop plans B, C and D if A isn't working, to get more 3 pointers. I'd rather see us go out swinging for the fences than suffer a long, slow, lingering relegation. |  |

For what it's worth it was an entertaining match and I didn't think we were lazy at all. Just trying desperately and failing due to that lack of... well... something. We could have been a couple of goals up at half time but it wasn't for lack of effort. We're playing ok in spells and just need that 'something' to convert the chances we are creating. Not sure really what that is but I hope we can find it within the next game or two or we are looking at league 2 next season. |  | | |

Back in the late fifties,Arthur Daley and myself played for Heybrook Junior School,Sammy Sumner,our sports teacher,made us walk all the way to Lenny Barn (through Falinge Park) to play Oakenrod. It was bloody freezing,not snowing,but a biting wind,so by the time we got there we were blue with cold. No wearing of gloves or track suit bottoms to play in in those days. Needless to say we got walloped 5-1,but I think we were more pissed off with Sammy not letting us go on the bus and just couldn`t be arsed. Arrogant prick,take that. | | | |
