Easily the best song to ever come out of West London and the song I still sing to my son all the time. Sometimes he joins in with the chorus and does some sort of half-cut-Dad dance* other times he barely looks up from his lego/dinosaurs/jigsaw (he's only three). Wrap-up warm today folks; it's gonna be Baltic down by the river. Here's to a Fulham win, but I hope everyone has a good day. COYW.

One track that is indelibly associated in my mind with London is the Bee Gees track 'In The Morning' which is used in the opening sequence of 'Melody' (1971). You can see from that sequence that the Thames was still an active port. Most of the filming was done in Lambeth but a few scenes were shot in Hammersmith and Fulham.

Exactly my thought. Followed by "poor old Roy Kinnear."
I vey very briefly met Jack Wild a couple of times, his girlfriend (later wife and widow) was a friend of my younger brother's. TBH you could tell he'd screwed his body up. Nice guy though.

West London In Somg West London In Somg I can't spell West London In Song
New composition. New addition. Only listened to this a couple of times so far. Sounds like a grower. First thought was Al Stewart meets Christy Moore in the KPH (which is set to reopen btw). Some great lines in the lyric.

This post with Rodney and Besty reminds me of attending the cottage for a game against Oldham. If memory serves me correctly, I had arrived at Loftus Rd to see the Rrrrs against Man U but it was called off while I was travelling, so decided to walk to Fulham as did many Utd fans who went to see Best. The Utd fans were very vocal on the Hammersmith end whilst I was freezing on the open terrace by the river.
The game didn't disappoint though with George and Rodney playing really well and Brian Moore was in ecstasy on the Big Match. It ended 5-0 to the fools.

I liked to walk in the summer breeze down Dalling Road by the dead old trees and drink with my friends in the Hammersmith Broadway Dear dirty old drunken delightful old days
You said it Shane.

The Fabs might have spent their formative years in Liverpool and Hamburg, but once they finally reached God's country in 1965/66 they really kicked on.
Paperback Writer/Rain was reckoned to be the first ever proper pop video - filmed at Chiswick House in 1966
