It must just be me, I thought Black Mirror was absolute gash, 1st episode aside. Had such high hopes after that 1st one....

Utter, utter tv toss..

no each to their own. I liked the OA while a lot of people thought it was absolute muck. The radio recommended watching a sitcom on Netflix called "community" which they reliably informed me would have me doubled over. Chevy Chase is in it. Watched around half an episode and switched off. Granted I was tired but it didn't grab me.

But the radio were saying make sure to watch it fast because Netflix are removing it by March 1st.

Bobby Fischer Against the World
Supermensch
Virunga

The Wrecking Crew
The Central Park Five

Sample This

Talking of documentaries. Not sure if these are on Netflix or not but worth checking out if that's your thing.

Dirk Gently. Loved Douglas Adams book, so I thought I'd give it a go whilst I recover from surgery.

Weird, Americanised, no link to the book apart from the character's name, but strangely compelling. Dark, dark comedy, but pretty good; surprised I like it.

Can we go out yet?

Yeah I watched that... quite amusing when I've had a few.
Loved HHGTTG, but I've never read the Dirk Gently book.

Shameless US is on there now. I absolutely hated the UK version, could barely sit through 10 mins of all that "us Mancs are so cool an 'aard, like" sh1t, but the US one is wonderful stuff.
It has the guaranteed seal of quality that is Willliam H Macy in it, plus, oh man, Emmy Rosum and Shanola Hampton.
Great theme tune, too!

Luke Cage was a good viewing, good sound track and not at all what I expected from a 'comic book adaptation'...those aren't really my thing but this series was great!

The "Goal" triology.
The 3rd one is probably the best sports film ever made.
Nah I can't do it to you. It's terrible . So bad it's nearly good .
The England bench scenes are kids school play quality . Funny

I was terrified as well. I despaired. And I got good and stubborn. It actually prompted me to get more politically active again.

No matter what anyone's views on here, I would recommend the film wholeheartedly.

That's the spooky-looking unblinking fella, thanks I Saw QPR at White City.

A Hungarian composer apparently.
No obvious QPR connection. [headscratch]

However BB did say
"In art there are only fast or slow developments.
Essentially it is a matter of evolution, not revolution."
which I can imagine Mr Sheen approving..

Just watched 'The Seven Five' on Netflix. A documentary about the man labelled the most corrupt cop ever. Amazingly well put together as they got interviews with everybody and interspersed it with the testimony.

If you like documentaries and true crime stuff - watch it.

Just watched this, got to admit I wasn't blown away. I admire Chomsky as a history scholar and an intellect, and he has a really great voice . And he and his books are a fantastic resource.

His stuff on the media is good, but in general I find his analysis underwhelming; with his intellect and the years spent chronicling protest movements I find it a bit of a let down that, despite expressing his optimism he doesn't really offer anything beyond "protest is good".

With his years and that brain you'd hope for more practical insight and wisdom! But he admits himself that he was never much of an organiser, and you have to suspect he never actually got his hands dirty and doesn't actually have any insight into how counterpower works or how to build anything. He seems to think for example that the civil rights street protests built the civil rights movement, rather than the the movement leading to the street protests. In general, from that film at least, Chomsky seems to believe in the capacity of street protests to challenge power, which seems a bit naive.

Still, as a historian and a story teller, and in his ability to draw on history he is remarkable
