I found out yesterday. Its due to the stadium size and police being on high alert for problems over the last year and fans causing trouble.

I understand the reasoning behind it, but I don't see how they can enforce this. What about fans who don't have tickets but have managed to get hotel rooms in or nearby Lens? Are they going to be banished from the city for the day? Has to be an idle threat

Agreed, and there is a fanzone outside the stadium for people without tickets .......

Wales Euro Thread info ETC on 15:29 - May 5 with 2417 views | ABERSWAN | What the welsh FA said, was they advise any fans without tickets, not to travel to the town,as the fan zone holds about 10,000(as an example)and they are expecting 50,000 to turn up. The stadium actually holds more fans than the entire town of Lens. There are a very small number of pubs, which will be rammed, and it is a zero policy on drinking in the streets or you will be arrested. So basically, you can enter without tickets, but unless your there very early to enter the fan zone, it's possible, you might not be able to watch the match anywhere.

Many swans fans I am travelling with are going - 1. To be there to support Wales 2. To visit the area, inc WW1 historical sites. 3. To have a few days away with mates, beers and fun, like a holiday ...... 4. Because Wales have never been to a major tournament in their lifetimes. And not one of them should have to justify anything to any official when travelling legally throughout the EU. ( if they do I'm voting OUT - because what's the point ? ) I mean, people attend our country freely with little issue. We are merely going enjoy the atmosphere, and maybe, get a ticket. The only issues that will occur will be at the hands of officials antagonising and inflaming situations.

Just don't go to Lens on the day of the game. People that do have no respect for the people with tickets. The place has a smaller population than Port Talbot.

Is there an echo in here? "If you don't have a ticket, they don't want you there" I'm sure 'they' would prefer if all the games were played behind closed doors and no fans at all travelled, but that's just not on the cards now is it
