The Official Arsenal FC v Swansea City Match Thread on 12:28 - Mar 1 with 11629 views | jackharris | Arsenal FC v Swansea City Wednesday March 2nd 2016 at 19.45 Emirates Stadium, London 60,000 (2,000 Jacks) TEAM NEWS Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been ruled out for up to eight weeks with the knee injury he suffered against Barcelona last week. Danny Welbeck is likely to be rested, having only just come back from a 10-month injury lay-off. Swansea City are at full strength for their trip to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday. On-loan midfielder Leroy Fer could be handed his first start since joining from QPR in January. Possible Starting Eleven Bench Nordfeldt, Amat, Rangel, Fer or (Cork or Britton), Barrow, Gomis, Montero (if fit) MOTD COMMENTATOR'S NOTES John Motson: "Arsenal's poor performance against Manchester United has been roundly criticised by all and sundry, but everybody has got a bit carried away. "While the focus has now turned to their trip to Tottenham on Saturday, this game with Swansea could be even more pivotal. "If they don't win, their title chances would be all but over. "It's not a game they can take lightly, either. Swansea have a good record at the Emirates, with two wins and a draw on their last three visits, and they gave Tottenham a good run for their money on Sunday. "With three games to come against fellow relegation rivals, the Swans would love to go into those fixtures on the back of a morale-boosting result." WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "We want to transform the negatives into positives around us and create even more solidarity. Let's not go overboard, we do not play to be relegated. "We are playing to fight for the title. That's why we have to put criticism in the right place." LAWRO'S PREDICTION Swansea put up a good fight against Tottenham and Lukasz Fabianski made some great saves to keep them in it, but they still lost and it is hard to see them getting anything at Emirates Stadium. To have any hope of winning the title, Arsenal quite simply have to win. Prediction: 2-0 MATCH FACTS Head-to-head Swansea are unbeaten on their last three league trips to the Emirates, with two wins and one draw. The nine Premier League matches between these sides have seen four wins apiece and one draw. Arsenal Arsenal have lost their last two competitive matches - they haven't lost three in a row in allcompetitions since April 2010. Wenger's side have won eight and lost just one of their last 12 league matches at home. Ozil has 18 assists this season in the Premier League - only two behind Thierry Henry's competition record, set in 2002-03. Swansea Swansea have gone four league games without a victory (D2, L2). The Swan's current points tally of 27 is their worst in a Premier League season after 27 games. They have dropped a joint-league high 14 points from winning positions this season - along with Bournemouth. Only bottom side Aston Villa (21) have scored fewer Premier League goals than Swansea (25) this season. [Post edited 1 Mar 2016 22:20]

The fact we kept it to 2-1 (plus all the other narrow losing scorelines) might be what keeps us up...GD is worth at extra point.

I take this viewpoint and it is due to this that we will not be in the bottom 3 by the weekend. However, trying to keep it tight and going for draws or nicking a win when we are so susceptible at set pieces is very dodgy. If we're we were say, 4 or 5 points better off, it would be a good tactic, but we aren't. Just hope we go for the jugular against the fellow strugglers in March

The Official Arsenal FC v Swansea City Match Thread on 18:53 - Mar 2 with 9978 views | A_Fans_Dad | Arsenal, like Spurs must be very glad to see no Montero, in fact nobody with any kind of pace at all. This is going to be a disaster if they are not very very careful and could seriously impact our Goal Difference.
