We can't, just plain obscene, every time you hear a Tory talking about human rights etc etc just remember that they sell arms to those bastards.

So did Blair, and worse, unfortunately, and the longer he remains at large as a war criminal, Cameron and co will join the same ranks.

It's what makes this country great! God save the Queen!

Just listened to that racist republican on CNN. I'm scared, properly scared. It's the lies; right out of a Stewartt Lee sketch "department stores don't even have Christmas displays anymore, you're not allowed to say merry Christmas anymore" that is dangerous nonsense. He's 7-2 for president!

62 billionaires own half the world's wealth (Oxfam, 2016). That needs to be redistributed quickly...or else it will get bloody. When people have no more left to lose, they will turn to desperate measures.

Probably the wrong forum for that little rant.

And, aĺas, blair's before. And they wonder why the disenfranchised turn away from politics or get radicalised. I am not corbyn's grearest fan, but if the new labour group win the battle for the control of labour, then any chance of a political alternative, albeit within the narrow parameters defined by society, has gone for a long, long time.

Right, i'm off to pick up dog shit. Do isis have a secular wing?

If you want to relate it to this forum . Our football club played host to the Saudi "Kings Cup Final " last year . It was pointed out to me at the time by several posters that money trumps principles ...It was a shameful decision ..surely we arent that skint .

France is making record arms sales to Saudi despite the President being ex chairman of the French Socialist Party . They are second behind the US under Obama as the top suppliers Saudi . They all choose jobs at home over lives overseas ..

Obscene, f*cked up, call it what you like, you'd be right. But ask yourselves this...

Do you want the Saudi's on the inside pi ssing out or the outside pi ssing in?

Countries in that region that have the capability of going nuclear are being bought onside for good reasons. So the least we have to worry about is paying the mortgage, earning a living and whether we play 2 up front. I can live with that.

Exactly

Been going on for years , and will continue to go on for years , its the way the world works unfortunately , fcuk all we can do about it
Cameron is no worse than Blair , who was supplying to Gaddaffi and the like
Thatcher was the same we helped arm & train those rebels in Afghanistan to fight the Russians who then became the Taliban, she also helped secure the release of Pinnochet from spain so we could use Chilean runways in the falklands , Churchill was another who had to support the Russians in the second world war even though he knew about their atrocities
as you say mate paying the mortgage is more of a worry

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

The Saudi's are in both sides though aren't they. They're on our side when it comes to putting money in our coffers, but then they openly support, fund & arm the terror groups that we are, even admittedly as a token effort, trying to stop.

You have to wonder if in an office somewhere in Downing Street, anyone has ever bothered to see if the revenue from selling arms to the Saudis is more than the cost of military action against the terror groups they pass those arms on to.

It's got little to do with revenue.

If IS got its hands on Saudi, someone making a few dollars out of arms deals or the cost of military action against terror groups would be the least of your worries.

Went out with a girl once who revealed that she wasn't a civil servant but worked in the 'defence industry' i.e. for a company that sold arms to anyone who had money.

She said that she had nothing to be ashamed of.
I said she must have had or she wouldn't have lied.

We're still 'friends'.

Quite right about it being the way it has always been PP. My post was in no way a direct dig at the Tories, all the Mainstreamers are the same (which is maybe why I have a little time for Corbyn, he's one leader who may actually not sign up to such genocide).

I appreciate you lads may not be so concerned about death over there as us Bleeding Hearts, but what about when all of this gets directly translated into IS recruitment and masses of refugees coming to us looking for a home?

http://www.thenation.com/article/yemen-the-worlds-next-great-refugee-crisis/

Seems like a lose, lose, lose to me.

Actually what you have you wonder Jamie is how people with opposable thumbs still believe politicians when they tell us they are doing all they can to bring peace to a region when they are, as you rightly point out, blatantly funding and arming all sides of the conflicts.

The problem you mention in your 2nd paragraph is directly related to us overthrowing dirty regimes rather than supporting them. Look at Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan.

If we didn't arm Saudi and it was overthrown by IS surely you must realise the situation would only get worse?

Read the link in my first post Steve, we're supplying the bombs that are creating the next refugee crisis. And as for IS recruitment how about them being told this by

" The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and UK-based charity Action on Armed Violence declared that almost two-thirds of all civilian casualties between 1 January and 31 July 2015 have been a direct result of airstrikes. On August 24, the UN special representative of the secretary-general for children and armed conflict said, that the majority (73%) of the hundreds of children killed in Yemen since the escalation of hostilities in late March 2015 were victims of Saudi coalition-led airstrikes. Despite widespread criticism of the high civilian death toll, the U.S. State Department approved a $1.29 billion deal in November for more than 19,000 smart bombs to replenish the Saudi air force’s arsenal. Human rights groups repeatedly blamed the Saudi-led military coalition for killing civilians and destroying health centers and other infrastructure with airstrikes. According to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights “a disproportionate amount” of attacks on civilians appeared to be the result of airstrikes carried out by the Saudi-led military coalition forces. Human Rights Watch criticized the UN Security Council repeatedly for “remaining almost silent on coalition abuses”."

As regards situations getting worse, how about we don't allow/encourage/arm the rise of the likes of IS in the first place?

The Saudis' strident anti-Shia policy is going rapidly out of favour in the West, and it is that, not their despotic human rights issues, that will cause increasing angst in Western governments.

Contrary to what some think on here Bobby im not a Tory and have never voted for them ( a bit like you and Labour) so I never took it as a dig against them,

anyway any innocent killed is a death to many in my book , but ISIS being around and being the bad guys is a political god send for the West , War is money , the peddling of stories on all of these Jihadis and their atrocities only highlights the need for more war, more selling of weapons, the battle for oil, etc ,
lets face it the yanks & the Russians could wipe out ISIS in an afternoon if they wanted
but it pays to keep them around, it pays to keep in with the Saudis
its all a political game , if the left protest against war, or the right protest against Muslims or immigration none of it matters the average man or woman cannot win
Stevec had it right we are better off worrying if JFH plays 2 up top against Wolves

Agree with pretty much all of that PP.

But I still have, an admittedly ever fading, hope that we can get ourselves together enough to one day elect leaders that aren't just puppets in the game you describe.

I know what you mean mate , but it wont ever happen
say even if Corbyn got in he would still end up like the rest , he would succumb to political pressure or greed , he would have to deal with the bad guys to get a leg up ,
he would put his and his friends interests first , its what they all do

exactly. First day on the job and some highranking civil servant would approach Corbyn on the job and say to him "I know you promised this but this is actually how this works and this is what we're going to do"

When the Tories crow "We are the party of business," remember that is what it means in reality. Oh, and also that one day, some blokes might turn up and start fracking under your house. Or a national park. You cannot stop them, they don't need your permission to devalue the most valuable thing you will ever own. The Tories saw to that.

That said, Bliar is a war criminal who should be banned from ever going near the cenotaph again. A million marched against the war but he ignored them all.
