Montero 18:42 - Dec 26 with 3219 views | Landore_Jack | Just listened to Curtis's press conference. Didn't realise that the Montero substitution was a tatical switch. I thought this could have backfired since we seemed to be unbalanced in the second half. Jeff did well getting behind the full back and he made the pitch alot bigger. He stretched the WBA defence since they were playing 3 at the back. I dont think Alan got this switch right. Yes, he played Ayew on the wing in the second half, but the problem with Ayew is that he drifts into the centre and this congested the play. We lacked width. [Post edited 26 Dec 2015 18:45]

Montero on 18:49 - Dec 26 with 3098 views | LeonisGod | Shame. I was hoping he'd been forced into the change, as when the other team are pushing forwards to get an equaliser that's exactly when we need Monterro on the pitch.

I don't think Montero is a starter, he's more of a player for the last 20 minutes. I'd go with Routs and Ayew out wide with someone other than Gomis up front.
Montero on 19:07 - Dec 26 with 2888 views | icecoldjack | Disagree slightly. Montero was not offering the threat he can give when on his game, i thought it was a bold move to go more solid and protect what we have, i've been dissapointed with Jeff of late, the more i see him the more i worry he is a one trick pony . Routs showed what having guile and skill gives you in this league, Routs movement off the ball is something Montero can learn off. Overall it was a move that paid off, i agree it made us slightly unbalanced though. 3 pts proves it was a good move i guess.

Agree as much as we know he can do, he does seem to struggle when starting. Second comment. I'll bring my boots...................I won't get caught offside
Montero on 21:14 - Dec 26 with 2359 views | jackportis | I noticed he was first out of the dressing room today. He didn't look happy. Unlike ki who was full of Christmas spirit.

Montero on 21:18 - Dec 26 with 2331 views | builthjack | Monterey started to go a few times, looking for the ball to be played in front of him. But Taylor either turned back or gave it to Monteros feet. I thought Taylor was awful today actually.

Montero on 21:47 - Dec 26 with 2184 views | TheKirkyLife | Don't blame Alan at all - West Brom looked dangerous ENOUGH in that first half and we know how much of a hard worker Jack is. The 3 points justifies the substitution. I wouldn't even argue that Jeff is a sub for 20 minutes now, he's someone you throw on for the last 5 as a game breaker. His one trick has been found out because he was started in games this year. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Montero on 22:12 - Dec 26 with 2055 views | oldcob | I couldn't understand Cork playing further forward than Ki when he came on, Cork being the specialist defensive mid field. It seemed to work though so I'm not criticising.
Montero on 22:15 - Dec 26 with 2035 views | Phil_S | We were being overrun in midfield at the end of the first half and West Brom were coming more and more into the game and looking dangerous - we needed the extra bite in midfield that Cork gives

Montero on 00:52 - Dec 27 with 1485 views | Nookiejack | That was a really good substitution by Curtis. The Baggies were starting to dominate midfield and winning lots of corners and freekicks - which they looked very dangerous from. We dominated midfield in the second half and busted a gut on a few occaisions not to give corners away - just throw ins - so really nullified their attacking threat in second half. I liked the look of Berahino when he came on - lucky for us it looks like continues to want out - so has fallen out with Pulis - hence came on us sub. Lambert for them looked very immobile and we appeared to deal with him comfortably. Ki did very well following up rebound for his goal - he does pussy out of challenges though when in some dangerous defensive positions. Leon was magnificent.
