Almeria Dog Homing 10:40 - Jun 26 with 5426 views | Brightonhoop | Norf, I hope this is alright, can you make it a sticky? Fellas, I'm setting up a dog homing charity here in Spain. It's a long story but the culture here is brutal, and in this rural area it is not unusual to see hunting dogs strung up by their necks from lamp posts etc, and dogs are just abandoned in the streets, perfectly healthy decent dogs that end up getting gassed in the dog pound. The economic woes have just seen numbers of dumped pets spiral. Many get rehoused and 'exported' to new homes and families out of Spain. My two both came from a dog pound and they are brilliant dogs, a German Shep and a Dalmation. So, I think I've finally lost my marbles but my first arrivals turn up in about 10 days. I need to replace a perimeter fence on quite a large plot, build a small but long wall, and build a large dog house as well as an isolation pen for any that dont get on. I need to raise around £600 in all to get it established. Once established it will be largely self funding. Never done this before and am not comfortable going out cap in hand but needs must. So if any of you good Gents feel able to make any size donation, please pm me for details, it will be greatly appreciated. Projected turn over will be over a hundred dogs a year, usually in two month stints before they are re-homed permanently. Thank you. [Post edited 29 Nov 2017 18:22]

Almeria Dog Homing on 10:26 - Jun 27 with 1572 views | sdm1508 | Donated what I can. You are an absolute saint. We got our staffie from Batteresea nearly four years ago after he was picked up as a stray. He had previous owners but they didn't want to know. One of the best things we ever did. I know some people don't like dogs or certain breeds but when you find a good dog, it is a great companion.
Almeria Dog Homing on 11:58 - Jun 27 with 1542 views | Pommyhoop | Great work Brighton! As soon as the Mrs gets up tomorrow I'll get her on the case to send you a few bucks .She sorts the pay pal stuff out. I dont know how anyone can mistreat a dog. I've got a Choc. Lab and an Aussie Bulldog. The Bulldog is strictly speaking ,my eldest daughters( she moved back in with us and rented her gaff out) but you know how it is, he's mine now. I feed him and walk him .I'll be gutted when she eventually moves back into her own place. To be honest I dont recon the Mrs will let her take him away..

Almeria Dog Homing on 12:28 - Jun 27 with 1536 views | Brightonhoop | Cheers Sharpy thank you, much appreciated. Thanks sdm, yep best dogs in the world the rescue ones. I've got a Staffie cross and 13 pups coming late next week, will be a shock for my two boys. :-) Nice one Pommy, thank you. Impossible to part with I would say, I still think dogs choose their owners, not the other way round. Sounds like he's your dog now.
Almeria Dog Homing on 12:58 - Jun 27 with 1527 views | HordleHoop | Its not much but given what I can. Wish you the very best. I much prefer dogs to humans but that probably says more about me than the dogs. Good Luck

Thanks Hordle it really helps. And it's not you, i'm the same, my argument is dogs unlike humans mostly get along, don't go to war and as Blob said, dragge humanity upwards towards civilisation.
Almeria Dog Homing on 14:23 - Jun 27 with 1501 views | Monahoop | A very noble deed you are doing out there in Spain, Brighton. I contribute quite a bit to my local dogs home and attend some of their fund raising events. The wife thinks I'm barmy at times and she'd be right on that matter sometimes, but I like dogs and have a very friendly, lovable and loyal Lab/ Collie X. I cannot stand cruelty to any animal whether domestic or wild. I feel if anyone is cruel to other creatures, then what are they like towards there own? That's my thinking on the issue. The very best of luck to you and your canine friends and I will drop a contribution in sometime.

Almeria Dog Homing on 20:03 - Jun 27 with 1456 views | Brightonhoop | Thank you Mona, I've never understood animal abuse either. It's a bit grim here on that front. It's a strange system, here the person that reports it has to prosecute it and bring the person to court.
Almeria Dog Homing on 20:26 - Jun 27 with 1450 views | Lblock | The black lab I have curled up at my feet now is a rescue. My sister in law rescues dogs all over the country from her base in the Midlands, but she mainly takes in staffies. Just over 5 years ago she rang the Mrs as she had an 11 week old lab puppy and her 18 month old mum that she'd just rescued. The woman who "owned" them was a backstreet breeder who'd been caught by the council and had to get rid. So the mum and the last pup were that day due to end up in the canal when she literally stopped the woman in her tracks and took them. I was dead set against taking the pup but the missus ground me down and eventually said I could move out! Thank God she did as the bond I've got with that dog is stupid!! To this day my sister in law won't tell me this chap scum stag lives as I'd probably end up in the clink. I donate whenever I can to a charity called The Oldies Club who specialise in older hounds. I just can't understand how people can dump a dog after spending years with them, no matter the hardship or circumstances Will be donating when I have the plastic on hip. How's the total looking?

Almeria Dog Homing on 21:47 - Jun 27 with 1441 views | Brightonhoop | Nice one LBlock, thank you. Just cant beat a rescue dog, they know am sure they've had a second chance. There's an old boy here who lost his wife and with dementia progressing he had to let the dog go, he's refusing to go back to the UK. I think that is the only time I've said it's reasonable to let the dog go, and there was a good foster family set up for it so no harm done. These 'factories' need taking out. Total's made a good dent, hoping to start works next week. Cheers everyone. [Post edited 27 Jun 2014 22:58]

Can't even look at any of the stuff they send through or e-mail though. The way dogs and donkeys are treated, especially abroad is sickening.

Almeria Dog Homing on 13:40 - Jul 1 with 1168 views | westberksr | hiya Brighton just made a donation to your very worthy cause. never had a rescue as i like certain breeds and as they tend to be hunting dogs find it easier to get from a pup. i do support a couple of animal charities but having seen the waste at Battersea and RSPCA at close hand prefer small direct efforts such as yours. always believed that a dog isn't just for Xmas and all that, they make brilliant companions and i wwouldn't be without mine; but some of the khunts i see with dogs shouldn't be allowed to breath, let alone look after another creature! keep up the good work.
