Streety1996 added 23:13 - Sep 20 smiffdub added 00:28 - Sep 21 Saints played unusual game in the 1st half, sitting back a lot. And then it was Swansea's turn after the sending off. They really sat back. Most teams, even a man down, would have been a shade more enterprising. They let us play around them all the second half. The goal had to come and it did, from the most unlikely source. I though Clyne was our star...both defensively and in attack. Gardos made an impression too...very composed and careful, even if not tested much. perazi added 04:36 - Sep 21 A game we were fortunate to win - Swansea really bossed the first half and obviously the sending off (justified) changed the course of the match. Second half changes in midfield were key to better showing, Davis and especially Big Vic made a big difference. Special mention to both CB's who played a half each. Yoshida for taking the brunt of Bony's aggression and stood firm and Gardos who despite being under little pressure looked composed and athletic. Bertrand man-of-the-match. bigrob68 added 07:03 - Sep 21 birminghamsaint added 10:28 - Sep 21 I thought too that the Ref ruined the game. I'm not sure why Yoshida was replaced at half time (injured possibly) but it would have been the right decision anyway from Koeman, as Yoshi had been booked in the first half and I reckon the Ref might have tried to even up the red cards. I think we missed Steven Davis in the first half, as our ball retention was really poor. thehat added 11:11 - Sep 21 Entertaining game there are good points and bad points and today was defiantly a good point. Unfortunately now we have gone back to a flat back four the selling of Simpson has left me scratching my head? tsbains64 added 11:44 - Sep 21 Great comeback but we could have been out of it by half time. Rio does look suspect at the back and Isla needs to raise his game . Liked Nicos perfromace and the goal was one of the best Austing played hard but seems to be off the pace. Great to see Traore making his runs If we had kept the the teams that started we could have gone on to win but loosing Barton and mutch weekend up Disappointed crowd but enjoyed the game and the comeback romfordranger added 14:14 - Sep 21 Pleased with the point in the end, great free kick from Kranjcar, looks fitter than last season and carrying less timber. The defence looks very weak, Isla had a nightmare and Ferdinand looks like he should have retired last season. With these two playing we are always going to be up against it! The midfield is solid enough and we have pace, but suffer a chronic lack of striking options. The midfield are all going to need to chip in with their fair share of goals. I do think Austin has it in him to be a premier league striker, he can finish, is good in the air and has a terrific work rate. He just needs more support. No other club in the league has less strikers on their books as us, I just don't understand Redknapps logic here, or selling Simpson. I just hope Ferdinand picks up an injury and Onuoho gets reinstated to the team. As for right back, Isla really does need to sort himself out, he was woeful yesterday. Its going to be a long and painful season at times, but hopefully we can grind out enough points to finish 17th in the table, always an optimist, me!
