Saints Expected To Start The Salisu Bidding Thursday, 16th Jan 2020 12:09 Saints are being touted as leading a quartet of Premier League clubs about to bid for Mohamed Salisu.
Premier League Saints, Everton, Newcastle United and Norwich City reportedly want Real Valladolid's La Liga newcomer Mohamed Salisu and the press in Spain say Saints are about to test the water and open up with a bid of £8.5 million.
Real Valladolid’s sporting director has admitted that the 20 year old Central Defender could leave the Spanish side before the month is out, but how many club's are actually interested is open for debate as this one is clearly steered by his agent.
Salisu has a release clause of around £10.5 million, but whether he is worth that after only 19 games in La Liga, his only top flight experience so far, is yet to be decided.
Another Saints target Marin Pongracic has left Red Bull Salzburg and joined Wolfsburg for £9 million, but it should be noted that this is way over his market value, so perhaps Saints felt that he was overpriced if they at all where interested.
We will find out soon if Salisu is genuinely on Saints radar or just a convenient name for his agent to drop when trying to stir up interest.

I'd be surprised if we signed anybody now, given what I've just read on Sky Sports. You have to wonder, what sort of affect our lack of ambition , displayed by this "about turn" will have on our ability to keep the likes of Danny. I can't help but feel that Ralph is "towing the company line", particularly given he may feel obliged to do so, given that it wouldn't have been a surprise had he been fired after the 0-9 home defeat.

Suddenly Ralph is happier with the full back situation ..(will Cedric stay one wonders?) and with Valery, and Vokins in the picture there's no obvious need for a panic buy a.t.m. However, the CB slot must have some back up. Hoedt and Vestergaard have both failed to impress, and Yoshida (if he's allowed to stay) will be the only option in an emergency. A reasoned buy now will allow time for any newcomer(s) to get his feet under the table and we can take a longer look at the situation at the end of the season. It's most likely that both of those mentioned above will have been scouted already, so hopefully we will choose the correct one and avoid another Hoedt/Vestergaard fiasco .

Its January over priced market. Saints are not doing anything. Ralph softened the blow for those of you who thought transfers would be done by stating through Sky " we dont have to buy". Lol the realists are not surprised. Ride it to the end Ralph. Maybe we can be lucky 3 years in a row with relegation battles. Hope your two CB stay fit and keep playing ok. If so you will squeak through again.

Typical saints lack of ambition we should be pushing on and challenging for euro spot not thinking we have done enough not to be relegated but surely we should be used and grateful for just surviving in this league

squeak through again? I may be a ludicruus optomist (!) but we are playing brillaint football of the like not seen since Koeman. Our high press is destroying teams and JWP is having the season of his life. I am looking at the fixtures and dreaming, assuming Ings, Stephens, Bednarek, Armstrong and JWP stay fit...I think this is realistic. Wolves W Palace W Liv D Burnley D Villa W WH W New D Norwich W Ars D Watford D MC L Everton L MU L Brighton W Bournemouth D Sheffield U W 26 more points, 56 for the season, pushing top 6! My £40 at 4.5/1 on a top 10 finish is looking tasty.. as is my £100 on liverhampton at 3.6/1! Happy days, but it would see us pillaged again in the summer.

Buy another unproven youngster to sort our CB issues...I don't think so.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? MK Dons Polls |
