Danny Ings Is The King Of The Scummers ! Monday, 23rd Dec 2019 08:49
After his performance at Aston Villa the plaudits are ringing out for Danny Ings from the pundits, but they were ringing out from the stands at Villa Park long before the final whistle as the fans sung his praises,
There were those back in the summer who suggested that Saints should not waste £20 million in completing the signing of Danny Ings after he spent last year on loan at the club, they are probably eating their words today.
But one group of Saints supporters has made it their mission to try and make up songs about the club and it's players that are something different than just copying other sides compositions and changing the names.
The Itchen North has risen this season to become the main source of noise taking over from the Northam End and although the Northam still has more numbers and more volume it lacks a little in orginality and the group in the Itchen North is determined to ramp up the noise and atmosphere in St Mary's and at away games.
Their latest song was composed after the victory against Portsmouth at Fratton Park when Danny Ings scored a brace and it has been getting louder as the weeks go on and at Villa Park it started to be taken up by more than just those who stand in the Itchen.
It's a simple song to sing and a well know tune that has been used before at football, originally being the hymn "Give me joy in my heart"
It goes as follows
Danny Ings is the King of the Scummers Danny Ings is the King I Say Danny Ings is the King of the Scummers Smashing Pompey the Southampton Way !
Athough the tune is well known, the words are particular to Saints rather than just one word or two changed and that makes it different.
It was taken up at Villa Park and sung with gusto by the same people on the train on the way home and hopefully will be heard more at St Mary's.
Hopefully this won't be the last new song that comes out this season and hopefully as well it will help crank up the atmosphere at St Mary's as it has done on the road.

He just looks so much fitter and freer in his running and movement in recent times. His skills and predatory instincts for goal have always been there, but it's his mobility that looks so much better. Long may it remain.....his continued good form could keep us up! Merry Xmas to all.
Iim not sure who sings loudest wether its northam or itchen as when I'm in the northam you can hear northam but not the itchen and when I'm in the itchen you can hear the itchen but not northam so the best people to ask would be the people outside of these areas. Maybe start up a poll
“â€There were those back in the summer who suggested that Saints should not waste £20 million in completing the signing of Danny Ings after he spent last year on loan at the club, they are probably eating their words today.â€â€ As far as I understand this is factually incorrect. Part of the loan deal agreement was that we signed Danny Ings in July. There was NO get out clause, there was NO option to buy ,we had to buy him.
The social media whining from some about Ings was a disgrace to one of our own. After such serious problems at Liverpool it was obvious he needed to build his fitness and body up and would suffer some minor strains. Calling him injury prone a waste of money and offering to drive him back to Liverpool with no allowance for what hed been though was a shamefull lack of support for the lad,
I can fully understand the reserved feeling about spending £20m on any player by Saints these days given the number of flops we’ve had in recent seasons. Given Ings has had a recurring injury I was one of those who have had their doubts (I’m putting my hand up here to admit I was wrong). Put it this way, if the owners said we’re not spending anything other than what we raise from player sales and £20m is all you ended up with in the pot, is one player with a recent injury record what you’d want to blow your entire budget on? It was quite a big risk, but I’m glad so far it’s paying off. Not least we’d be boned without Ings’ goals, but also because it’s great to see a player who has had problems stick one up at his critics, he is a local lad (and presumably this means more than to most) and lastly it makes some a change to get some value out of Liverpool. I remember a certain website saying £40m for Mane and £80m for VVD was great money for the club. Well, we blew that on carp and subsequently Liverpool have won the CL and are now on course for a league title, largely thanks to those players, so £120m is a snip in today’s highly lucrative world.
Back to Ings though he is a class act. He’s a typical striker in the Lineker mode. He doesn’t tend to score worldies, but is just lethal in the box. As long as he stays fit and we keep giving him the ball he’s going to get goals and give us a half chance. Now if we could only sort out those defensive frailties..
Along with bstokesaint, I was/am one of "those" who questioned the 20 million/no option deal. No other team in the league would have paid that much. Especially since he was a talented player and then all of a sudden, the Scouse want to dump him and his contract while making a 10 million profit? That had to raise warning flags. Any other team would have only done a loan with an option to buy and still would not have paid as much.
HOWEVER, so far, so good, and maybe the Scouse are not as crafty as they think they are!
As many have said, he is one of a handful of players who actually look like they want to play for the Saints and is the only one who knows what direction the goal is! (It would be great if we had a play maker to feed him more!)
If we are lucky enough to avoid relegation, it will be because of his goals, and I will then say he is not worth 20 million, but rather his weight in gold!
By the way, Merry Christmas to everyone- all the Happy Clappers, Bed Wetters, Rose-Tinted Glasses Wearers, Glass Half Fulls, Glass Half Empties, The ^ Clickers and The v Clickers and my fellow Sarcastic Cynics on this site who make it one of the few on the internet where civility still exists.
And a special thanks to St. Nick for this work and patience (Hope Father Christmas brings him a Yoshi shirt) and Sammy for standing in all types of weather and then posting right after games so we can a true sense of the game that we never get from the "pundits" within hours.
"He´s red, his white, he´s Danish Dynamite , he´s our Hojbjerg, he´s our Hojbjerg, and Hojbjerg will die for You. His song when playing for Denmark.
MERRY Christmas everybody. I appreciate you and TUI a LOT.
Merry C and Thanks for another great match report from the Villa game. Jack "Cafu" Stephens :) <3 "There are no good players named Wesley" "Marvellous Macamba with a marvellous pass to Ings, who marvellously hammered a marvellous shot marvellously into the corner" "Irritating little T*** Grealish" etc etc etc I love it.
