Club Announce Record Sales Of Car Parking Spaces ! Should Expansion Be Considered ! Wednesday, 1st Jun 2016 11:00 On the back of sixth in the Premier League, Europa League group stage qualification and record Season Ticket Sales, comes perhaps the biggest news of all. One of the drawbacks of success is that car parking at St Mary's and in the satellite sites is at a Premium as the club announced today on its website. This means that space available starts to become very limited as people book spaces for their bandwagons, which often will take up more than one space. Bandwagon parking at the stadium itself is now completely sold out with only limited parking available at the satellite sites at St Mary’s School (£205), Basepoint (£205), Solent University (£205) and Royal South Hants Hospital (£155). Already spaces sold have exceeded sales at this point last year and in the next few weeks the club are confident that it will be another sell out in the official car parks. This has led to many supporters demanding that the stadium car park be expanded, the TUI Video Channel recently conducted a survey outside St Mary's to gauge supporters views, comments made included. " It is very short sighted of the club to not expand the car park, we should buy the industrial units behind the Chapel End, level them and provide extra parking" " I am more concerned about the brightness of the white lines, I could not justify paying £5 a game for such a shoddy parking bay" " The size of a club's car park is very important, look at Liverpool before they expanded their Stadium they made sure they demolished several streets around Anfield via compulsory purchase orders to make sure the car parking space was available, yes it put several hundred 10 year old car minders out of a job, but tough decisions have to be made if you compete at the highest level" Club executive director of football Les Reed said " We have shown our ambition recently by getting several high profile players to sign long term deals, part of this process was offering them car parking spaces, in the short term we accept that we will have a problem with spaces for the supporters, but going forward we are examining the possibilities of providing more spaces, however we will not be looking to fund new spaces coming in by selling some of the spaces we already have in Ocean Village, indeed we are already in talks with Ocean Village to extend that contract." But the good news from the club does not seem to stop coming, we cannot reveal our source, but we have been reliably informed that some exciting news will break soon, our source said. "Supporters should be very excited about the new season and I don't just mean on match days. Indeed we have already spoken to some Car Washers in Tesco's car park in Bursledon to see if they would be interested in joining the club to enhance the St Mary's experience for our supporters even further " Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
