Stand Up & Be Counted But Address The Real Issues Not The Petty Ones
at 11:13 7 Jan 2025

Spot on mushinexile, I agree with every word and couldn’t have put it better myself. In particular your comment that S F C have become a cheap ripoff entertainment business leeching off football and us supporters.

A long well thought out piece Nick and I understand what you are trying to get across.

Unfortunately I believe that due to Sports Republic’s total and complete ineptitude resulting in two relegations from The Premiership in three years, most fans have simply reached a tipping point.

The phrase “ Fool me once, shame on you ; fool me twice shame on me” comes to mind.

Protest this season is totally irrelevant, fans disillusionment simply having gone too far. Where they will protest is during the close season when asked to renew their season tickets for The Championship.

This time around I foresee a very very long spell outside of the top flight and Sports Republic will have nobody to blame except themselves.

Who is up for this?

Not a bad idea saintwizzler although you can guarantee that the wannabe policeman, black uniformed security staff,( who were conspicuous for their absence against Millwall last season) would pick on a couple of O A P’s and get them arrested.

What has happened to the fans?
at 22:09 4 Jan 2025

Different audience nowadays who regard going to St Mary’s as a totally different experience to even a few years ago.

They aren’t particularly concerned as to the result as long as they can inhabit the fans zones and club shop before posing for pictures inside and outside of the ground.

Russell Martin must feel as though he’s won the Euro Lottery
at 20:22 4 Jan 2025

If the new guy had come in altered the method of play and got some results then I would agree with you.

He has altered the method of play and the results haven’t changed which indicates to me that the players Sports Republic assembled simply aren’t good enough.

Because of this Martin’s C V is intact going forward and he will have no trouble whatsoever in obtaining another appointment as a manager.

No doubt sat at home tonight laughing his socks off :-

1. I get the sack.

2. I get a shed load of money by way of compensation after having my contract needlessly extended in the summer.

3. My C V is intact because I didn’t manage a Premiership club when they were finally relegated.

4. The club appoint a manager to replace me and the results are as bad if not worse than when I was in charge.

5. I’ve got a very attractive girlfriend.

What’s not to like ?

Southampton V Brentford The Preview
at 17:03 3 Jan 2025

Not that it matters much but according to The Premiership site it’s 6 goals in 84 appearances which equates to one goal every fourteen games.

Only Sports Republic could have been daft enough to give him a contract extension in the summer.

Many thanks for your kind wishes Ifonly.

It may surprise you to learn that I still genuinely wish you and your family all the best. After all, we are both Saints fans so what’s to be gained in not doing so ?

In any event I’m pretty certain that both the 🌍 and your good self will continue to spin in 2025.

And to you Sir and every other contributor to the site throughout 2024 with particular thanks to Nick himself.

Who knows, this time next year we may be top of The Championship on our way to automatic promotion. Bold prediction I appreciate given that I don’t drink alcohol, but what’s being a Saint all about if you can’t dream ?

Dear oh dear oh dear Ifonly.

Yet again being reduced to having to spin what you originally said.

Rather a pattern throughout 2024 as I recall.

To be honest, I’ve throughly enjoyed crossing swords with you on a variety of subjects during 2024 and hope to be able to do so again next year. I can’t remember which subject in particular but I do remember actually agreeing with you once !

In that spirit and as one long suffering Saints supporter to another, I genuinely take this opportunity of wishing you and your family all the very best for 2025.

I doubt there’s a professional club in the whole of the UK where the manager alone has a yes/no decision on signings. Totally naive to think otherwise.

The club and Juric have a mutually agreed contract break clause which can be activated by either party hence I very much doubt that he will be in charge when we start our 2025 Championship campaign.

Worst points total & goals scored.

Sports Republic have been shown to be a totally useless bunch of absolute amateurs in my opinion. They couldn’t successfully run a bath or be able to figure out how to get home on a dark night.

Why our owners continue to be taken in by their obvious incompetence is beyond my comprehension. I’m reminded of the expression “ They must have more money than sense”.

To be honest we don’t offer much with him as the current table confirms.

He’s a Premiership player in a very very poor Championship standard squad assembled by a bunch of incompetents employed by the owners of Sports Republic who also haven’t a clue what they are doing.

Fortunately for KWP I believe his current contract expires in the summer of 2025.

Fair play kernow.

I can’t help but notice that it’s all gone quite on here this evening with little input from the Christmas pantomime villain abusers.

New manager:- 3 games, 1 point from a possible 9 and only 1 goal scored.

Rather looks to me very similar form to our previous manager’s record.

I’ve said it consistently, the majority of the blame for our current league position lies with our owners and the absolute incompetent doughnuts they employ, who amongst other bizarre decisions, thought it a good idea to extend Armstrong’s contract and purchase cast off Championship and Premiership forwards to assist him.

In truth we were effectively relegated before a ball was kicked with or without Martin or the new manager.

Nail on head A1079.

I’m heartened that there are others who hold a similar sensible view of what is happening to our club rather than taking out their frustrations solely on the recently departed Russell Martin.

Then again it is Christmas. So I suppose its only to be expected that they need a pantomime villain to assuage their anger.

He didn’t help himself with bizarre team selections, tactics and substitutions but really, was it all his fault ?

Another game passes without us adding to the previous eleven goals scored. Honestly, how is it humanly possible to score only eleven goals during eighteen matches ?

Sports Republic’s decision to extend Armstrong’s contract by three years must rank as one of the most ridiculous decisions made in the history of the club. He couldn’t hit a barn door with a banjo last time we were in the Premiership for pity sake.

Their recruitment policy for strikers ( if indeed they ever had one ) during the summer has proved to be an absolute disaster.Championship and Premiership cast off players asked to play at the highest level with utterly predictable outcomes.

Blame Russel Martin by all means but please don’t let that cloud your judgement of the total bunch of incompetent chancers who currently own and run our club.

Looks like it's Carlos Corberan
at 17:19 19 Dec 2024

If my memory serves me correctly we played W B A four times last season, winning three and drawing the other game.

Was this Corberan fella their manager on all four occasions ?

If so, on that basis alone, why in the name of everything that is holy is it being suggested we have approached him ?

Honestly, the idiots at Sports Republic couldn’t run a bath or manage to get home on a dark night.
