| News Comment | Southampton Planning To Keep Faith With Russell Martin But Why ! at 14:15:54
Step back and it’s obvious; sports republic don’t have the money to sack him and are resigned to going down; at which point they realise 100m in transfers for Dibling Fernandes and Ramsdale. And then next year the whole promotion relegation cycle renews. They don’t care because they make the financial return from player sales. Buy unproven youngsters that they can make 2x on. It’s the saints fans that lose out. |
| News Comment | Southampton At Bournemouth The Verdict at 11:15:53
I agree with the comments on the ownership. We seem to have a model where they invest their (?) capital only in players they feel they can sell at a large mark up and pay minimal wages for. I suspect that’s how they can justify the investment to their backers. It didn’t work last time and it won’t this time and we need to get angry about it. This model precludes us from buying experienced prem players on higher wages like Ings and investing in players like Delap who’s future value is reduced by the amount being asked now and who’s wage demands are higher that their failing model. Martin is clueless, not to start Adam L and to continue to exclude Walker Peters, he has to go now. But the model also doesn’t include buying managers who don’t accept their policies so what PL manager would join us? |
| News Comment | Saints At Newcastle United The Verdict at 12:03:49
Newcastle, City , Arsenal all games with late goals against. I wonder if it isn't just concentration but fitness levels that are not up to requirement. Admittedly I was disappointed that Ralph didn't do a double substitution at 60 mins (given the squad was unchanged and played mid week). |
| News Comment | Should Sofiane Boufal Stay Or Go ? at 14:14:57
I was at the Burnley game he did show some good touches. He was great in the preseason game. On Saturday he had 2 or 3 magic moments including one dribble where he resisted the urge to repeat the WBA run. He has talent in magnitude and if he plays with Djnepo and Ings and Redmond he could really be the difference maker; oppositions would struggle to put 2 on him. |
| News Comment | Why The Saints Board Must Sack Mauricio Pellegrino Now Before It Is Too Late! at 12:51:17
he's absolutely clueless and clearly unprepared for the pace of the premiership .. and I think that's the problem here.. its a very different league we need proven PL experience.. and now we are after Carrillo a striker with 4 goals in 19 games and no international experience playing in a weaker league . for 17M transfer fee.. we are going to go down with this continued weak thinking. |
| News Comment | The Real Issue Is Creating Chances Not Scoring Them ! at 17:05:38
Totally agree our problem is providing good opportunities for the strikers.. for me Tadic, Redmond and Boufal are a little selfish.. Tadic had the ball in the box but seems clueless and resists passing the ball back for a cross then he loses the ball... they all look to score themselves and don't consider themselves play makers.. they all want to be strikers.. I think we need to play Long as a playmaker .. he can run in the box and force chances for Gabbiadini.. we need Long and Gabbiadini and /or Austin to work together.. |
| News Comment | Will Saints Get Joe Hart ? at 10:49:47
I think Fraser has suffered since the injury.. he doesnt launch same way.. its something to do with that injury or his nervousness.. maybe they can work on it.. or maybe it is time for a reeplacement... btw the Ibra goal at wembley was largely a foul.. they impeded davis from jumping by leaning on him just prior to the kick so he couldnt junp in time.. training ground tactic and a foul IMO.. I would go for Pickford from sunderland |
| News Comment | Have Saints Fans Had Enough Of Victor Wanyama ? at 14:37:31
He is great as a threat and a midfield disruptor.. but he doesnt always pass well.. he cant shoot (Sunderland aside) .. Romeu is much more the all round player.. we dont need him and he is costing us points in the balance. |

Truth is also that this sends a strong message to all the best future young stars that southampton has just about the best academy in the world.. The Harvard of football.. And that if you join us you will get the chance to walk into the top 4 teams on ridiculous money.. The facilities are amazing and the idea of investing big in that is the thing we should celebrate.. As we get bigger we will hold on to more and we will finance it without borrowing.. In the long run we will be as big as united.. They started out in similar fashion with youth ( buzby babes). |
