Spain, the only really convincing team in the competition so far, made ten changes for their final game. That probably wouldn't have been advisable for England, but four or five changes would have been comfortable and we'd have been no less likely to win. |

That was a new level of torpor. Nobody in the slightest bit interested in beating someone unless it was through a forest, with predictable results. Declan Rice looked like Sam Field's dim understudy. Saka thought his full back was Usain Bolt's faster, younger brother. Too tired to go on, my energy's been sapped. |

England were much better with Sterling making runs up the left. Saka should be capable of doing the same on the other side but he's not even trying to beat his man. Foden's been the most positive player so he should stay on, but this is calling for Palmer and Gordon to have a go. |

Absolute flaccid nonsense, that. Did anyone merit more than a 4 or 5? Bellingham was just as poor as everyone else. They looked like they're on fentanyl and scared of their own shadows. As soon as we scored we just gave up and let Denmark not only have the ball but as much space as they liked to go with it.
Two goals against two, realistically, quite ordinary sides. The starting 11 isn't working, so we're going to need a plan B here to make the significant improvements needed to get past the next round. Bah. [Post edited 20 Jun 20:27]

I don't know if there's any way to test this objectively, but it seems to me that the weaker teams are a bit better than they used to be. There just aren't any really crap teams in the tournament - nearly every team has players from the major European top divisions, so every game is going to have its challenges (OK I know, Scotland, but they still have some top division players). |
