Love it. Retro feel from the stripes/collar but keeping the recent trend of the abstract design on the front. Should actually be decent quality coming from O'Neills too. |

Much like their LOI, very slick and completely insubstantial. I'm furious with the board at the moment but, if this was an attempt by TFC to convert the current fan resentment towards SG into support for their bid, this is mission failed. |

I voted for the motions. I'm all for this leading to a more professional running of the club. Tell a lie, I voted against the audit motion. Mainly because we've had some strange fish in the clubs accountancy department in recent years. I'm also against people who stand in the way at the bar, especially when they loudly repeat themselves. Such unwelcome presences. [Post edited 7 Mar 22:26]

"Disingenuous" adjective Not candid or sincere, typically by pretending that one knows less about something than one really does. "he was being somewhat disingenuous as well as cynical" If the club is sold and we are presented with a new board, CEO, and accounting set up, then I'm open to the idea. Something that is fit for "modern football", as you like to say. They would have the power to do this anyway, as you have already pointed out. I am not happy for the people and methods used to compile the last set of accounts to be used again unchecked. As a shareholder, I do not think their performance in running the business side of the club has been even remotely close to a high enough standard to trust them with this task without an audit. First half was an absolute joy to watch. Hayes was superb. Mellor and John deserve a mention for some excellent link up play as well. Second half required a bit more defending but we managed that pretty solidly. Brooks claimed the ball confidently and seemed deservedly pleased with his clean sheet. Probably the most I've enjoyed a game in a long time. Who knows, maybe we'll vote for these motions, sell the club, and the talent and professionalism on the pitch can be reflected by a new batch of talented professionals off the pitch... |

Motions at an EGM can be withdrawn, and the same could happen here. There's no good version of this situation, but there's certainly the chance for a less awful one. If the club have found a suitable investor and have identified agreeable terms that require changes to the articles, that's something that shareholders can vote on in an informed way. Present them to the shareholders, and then call an EGM for whatever motions may be required to complete the sale. Unless the club are trying to sell to someone dodgy, there's a good chance it'll go through. Definitely a better chance than this current set of motions. Signing over completely unmoderated power to sell the club to anyone, with safety nets for some and not others, is an issue for me. I don't think our current board have the skillset to manage this successfully. Oddly enough, these are some of the same criticisms of the motions presented by Bottomley and co. Those motions were withdrawn too. There's been some excellent sensible contributions to this thread, but I'm happy to create another username and have a conversation with myself in an embarrassing Matt Southall style. It's clearly catching on. [Post edited 22 Feb 10:26]

Suggesting that the current situation has been an inevitability since 2020, that has only coincidentally happened on their watch, is completely and utterly disingenuous of you. Less than 2 years ago - "At April 2022, the club has a stable financial platform and cash reserves to be well positioned for next season. We have returned during 2021/22 to being a properly and prudently run football club and aligned our financial reporting year to 30th June alongside many other EFL clubs." https://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/news/2022/april/chairmanmessageseasoncards_22-23/ Even recently, we were told at the AGM in December 2023 that we had broken even for the first 2 quarters, such were the improvements made. We never returned to being a properly and prudently run football club because they don't know what that looks like. This board had the heart and the cash to save the club from the takeover, but they have never had the skills to run it and have subsequently run it into the ground. Yes, the takeover was a factor in that but so is their poor management of the club. There's a lot to be read and understood within the motions, but I no longer have confidence in the boards abilities to manage any of the possible outcomes. They don't have the skills to run a football club properly, and it's hard to have confidence in their ability to arrange the right deal to sell one. We've already lost our league status and will likely soon lose our academy. The shares bought by the fans and the trust to save the club could be almost diluted out of existence. Our ground could have zero protection on it. These were the things we were known for as a club. These motions may be designed to save the club, but I'm wondering what we'd actually have left. I can't help but feel we need an influx of skills just as much as we need an influx of cash. We need people who know how to run the non-footballing side of things. I'm not suggesting it's easy but making cuts, increasing revenue, further investment, or any other idea, will only be effective if it is implemented effectively. [Post edited 19 Dec 2023 13:37]

Incredibly sad news. My heart goes out to the guy. Sean made some loan appearances for us in 2012. He appeared on our team photo one season, but hadn't actually signed for the club. I asked Chris Dunphy about it a few years ago. Chris had no idea Sean was on the photo, but recalled Coleman wanting to sign him. He said he couldn't recall why he wasn't signed, but saw the funny side of him being included in the photo. |

I've got similar thoughts. It was a remarkably dull and frustrating first half. We started having a go second half, but even then it took us a while to find our shooting boots. Glad to see that the idiot at the back of the Sandy shouting at Rodney to run more was royally shot down from all sides. Surely it's the last thing Devante needs, given what he is going through. Lees Plum Pudding was very welcome on cask. Hope it remains over the festive period. |

Surely Ehimamiegho, Kelly, or Shubbar deserve a spot on the bench, instead of 4 defenders? Our way of playing has been found out and we didn't have the plan or the players to do anything different. |

Halifax have set up to cut out our passing. We can't get the ball out of defence. I hope Jimmy has a plan B. You can't play "total options" when your options are injured or not on the bench. Take armbands if you're going in the toilets in the Sandy. |

Couldn't make it to the game, so watched the stream. We were under the cosh for too long second half, but we did a good job of riding it out. East did a quality job of covering some of Clayton's work. Probably the best performance from EEL in a long time, few misplaced passes aside. York commentary team using the Alt Comms nicknames was brilliant. Referee was baffling. So inconsistent and made bizarre decisions against both teams. It's been frustrating at times, but I'm genuinely enjoying the season so far and the football we're playing. [Post edited 29 Aug 2023 11:35]

Great recommendations. House Of The Trembling Madness is an excellent pub, with a magnificent/bank account draining bottle shop downstairs. El Gaucho is good for Argentinian style steak. Chased away a hangover with breakfast at the Double Dutch Pancake House last time I was there, if anyone is after a change from a fry up. |

We're at the point in the season where teams have had the opportunity to scout eachother. Bromley tried to stop Clayton and Mitchell from being too involved and they mostly succeeded. This did give Sinclair a lot of space and left him as our main outlet going forward. Sometimes he made the most of it and sometimes he didn't, he deserves a lot of credit for his second goal and the sheer amount of running he did. We really should have put the game to bed when it was 2-1 and they had 10 men. In extra time it felt like they were trying to see out a draw whilst we were still trying for a win. That hasn't been the case for a long time. Max Conway looked excellent when he came on. Afuye looks way out of his depth. With Rodney and Jes both out, I wonder if we'll see Shubbar get a chance. There's been some very frustrating results so far this season, but personally I've really enjoyed watching the games. The people booing in the Sandy want to give their heads a wobble. Seems like a sensible signing. Has a season under his belt from the National League North last season. Three fullbacks wasn't going to see us through the season (John / Keohane / Oduroh). Gilmour has been used as a makeshift fullback, but he's been brilliant in midfield. |

I appreciate people get frustrated seeing us pass it across the back, but it's working well. The ball is getting into midfield and we're creating good chances. Two good goals, plus what looked like a superb save from their keeper. Clayton is a joy to watch. [Post edited 19 Aug 2023 15:56]
