| News Comment | Southampton V Huddersfield Town The Verdict at 10:02:54
Wow, what a great game. Certainly wouldn’t have had that in the Premier League. Although disappointing to concede 3 you can’t take anything away from the team with 5 in reply. To those worried about Huddersfield’s tactics exposing our weaknesses it must be noted that it was these tactics that also allowed us to score 5 past them. If other teams employ the same approach they may not get a 2 goal head start and could get a battering! |

For me this was the single worst performance in all aspects I have seen under Ralph. At least with the 9 nil defeats there was a red card that could be used for some of the blame. This performance was shocking from start to finish. The team selection, the tactics, the inability to change tactics, the gutless nature of the player performances, lack of meaningful substitutions, lack of respect for the fans, lack of respect for Championship race, lack of leadership, quality on the ball, lack of ideas on the ball…. I could go on. Some players made absolutely no contribution to the game, Diallo, Ely, JWP, Broja,Tella. Good finish by Redmond and Lyanco and Saliusu put in a shift. I was truly embarrassed to be associated with that performance and god knows what Man C fans thought of it. |

| News Comment | Big Weekend For Southampton In The Premier League at 20:36:52
Nick you have certainly provided some great perspective on the start to this season. Some people clearly are too ignorant to understand the finer detail. Really need that win on Sunday that will build on a solid start but as you say not the end of the world if we can’t do it. I think we may have won 8-0 at Newport by the way. COYR |
| News Comment | Ralph Hasenhuttl Addresses Saints Fans On Ings Transfer at 18:02:49
Really terrible feeling from this move but only for some reason I thought better of him. It’s not an indictment on Saints its an indictment as previously mentioned on modern football. Wish we could have some loyalty but clearly that is a thing of the past. If Ings want to sell his sole then stuff him and move on. Crap period of football but I will still support the players who turn out with fingers crossed they don’t turn out like assholes. |
| News Comment | Moussa Djenepo Target For Turkish Giants at 17:02:06
Definitely more promise than Redmond and Minamino. Mane took a while the settle and to be honest Ralph hasn’t exactly been playing to his strengths. Always seems to be giving his all unlike Redmond who seems to think he’s a genius and too good to put in a proper shift. |
| News Comment | Southampton At West Ham United The Preview at 13:41:23
JoeEgg, what exactly did we achieve under Koemen and Poch and what have Leeds and West Ham actually achieved. Just a few Prem places in reality. It just shows the fine margins we are working to and how fickle fans can be. Leicester is something to aspire to but every other club in the country is hoping for the same. Better be where we are now, a few points worst off, than a few divisions. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Fulham The Verdict at 15:49:14
Another much improved performance, nice to watch. Tella or Djenpo must start in place of Redmond. Rarely have I seen a Saints player as poor for such a consistently long period. Gives the ball away, wastes good chances and appears to think he’s great. Once Oriel is back maybe pairing him with Diallo and playing JWP and Armstrong left and right would be a good option. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Crystal Palace The Verdict at 10:38:00
Much better performance with more players contributing, Ings the difference between the teams. Minamino worked hard but if we are not going to sign him, I would rather have seen Tella given more game time. Redmond did appear to play better but he again gave the ball away often and was gifted oceans of space and time which he did very little with. A winger given that amount of the ball should b doing much more with it. He again slowed down play and not once got past his marker. Much happier today though and really pleased for the manager and team. |
| News Comment | All Saints Eyes On Fulham V Burnley Tonight But There Is A Dilemma at 21:00:33
We just need to get our act together, get some points and not worry about others team. I’m still in two minds about the manager and the players. Over the last 2 seasons we have had a season of top 4 standard and a season of being absolutely rock bottom of the league. Luckily they have been split across the 2 seasons or we would have been relegated with perhaps the lowest ever points. What’s next... who knows. Maybe somewhere in between would be nice! |
| News Comment | Southampton At Liverpool The Verdict at 16:51:03
I always seek the positives but as with most of the posters I have to make comment on how poor Redmond and Walcott are. Walcott offers absolutely nothing at anytime, Redmond struts around like he’s Messi but contributes nothing and continually gives the ball away. How could Tella be taken off and Redmond remain on the pitch. Che works hard but has to look at himself after yesterday’s performance, he is a good player and will improve. Most of the team play well in patches but why does JWP continually pass negatively which now appears to have been passed onto KWP. I am really starting to question RH but when you are playing with only 8 or 9 contributing then you are always going to come up short. Getting desperate now but it can all change quickly. |
| News Comment | Southampton V Leicester City The Verdict at 20:07:18
Did anyone notice the commentators totally changed their tune after half time. From complete Leicester bias and appearing to agree with the sending off to totally castigating it after half time. I think they were given a kick up the a**e. |
| News Comment | Saints V Sheffield United The Verdict at 20:01:04
Much make a mention to Vesty. Looks like Maldini going forward and so composed. Just a reminder to give players a chance to settle. Adam’s, Redmond and Armstrong other examples. Can’t really agree that Ings had a bad game, was involved in most of our best moves and only missed two good chances that were well saved and already offside. Great team performance and really proud. |
| News Comment | Saints At Aston Villa The Verdict at 19:41:59
This was a fantastic performance and great result. This would have definitely ended in defeat a couple of years ago but such was our brilliance we had enough to cover for a soft penalty, lapse of concentration, lucky strike, poor defending, late goal. All these happen during games in the season but they all came in this game and we still won!!! |
| News Comment | Saints At Chelsea The Verdict at 12:26:03
Have to agree with the posters today and not Nick which is rare as most on here are very negative (unless we win). The defence was pulled all over the place at times but we were always looking to to go forward, so against a team of the quality of Chelsea this should be expected. You can’t have positive attacking play and a defence that never concedes a goal. I would be much more concerned about the £150 million pound Chelsea defence where basic errors cost them goals. All round a really entertaining game where I’m sure the Chelsea fans have much more to be concerned about than us and 3 goals away from home against one of the best teams in the league. |
| News Comment | 2019/20 Season Review - The Central Midfield at 13:08:31
Add Reed to the mix and we have great options in CM. Never really great the injuries and suspension arguments, all clubs have a squad for these reasons and apart from maybe the top 4 no club can replace like for like. You have your best 2 or 3 and then maybe and sometimes luckily injuries give the younger players an opportunity when often a gem is discovered. If you have too many show ponies for each position they just drain the club of money, aren’t committed and cause an unsettled squad when not playing. |
| News Comment | Saints V Sheffield United The Preview at 11:23:25
I really think that Bournemouth will get a result against Everton they are often really ordinary so a draw maybe enough for us today. So glad we are not a club like Everton wasting millions on getting nowhere and with no pride in developing players or seeing youth thrive. I’m never more happy when we buy players get a good few years out of them and sell them on the bigger clubs for ridiculous money. We then make space for the next generation. People offer point at all the players that have left and think that we could have a amazing team right now but don’t realise that had we not moved these players on then the next ones would have never come to the club. Looking forward to next season with the same core squad and maybe a couple of new faces that might be our next ones to watch. |
