Jimmy Ruffin and "What becomes of the broken hearted" for me. Johnnie Walker played it over and over on Caroline. |

Not sure about the squirrel analogy. They are verminous parasites who eat everything I put out for the birds and steal our blueberries |

Also had a cartoon cinema at Waterloo Station just by platform 1 . They then changed it to show soft porn movies. Just what the tired commuter needs before heading home to Virginia Water. |

I wish someone would instruct me how to open a tin of baked beans without damaging several fingers and smearing everything in sight with beans and getting the memsahib in a strop. |

Hardly any bees this summer in West Sussex. Last summer we found a large bumble bee nest in a shady area. Bees all over everything. Then one day there were none. Investigated and discovered a big crater where the bees nest had been. Badgers! Sometimes nature is brutal. But that's how it should be without man sticking his oar in. |

Did we not sign the one season goal machine Stuart Wardley from Rushden and Diamonds? |

I used to go to Griffin Park about 1957 and there was a huge neon lucozade sign overlooking the ground. I remember a crowd of 20k for an amateur cup semi final (Barnet v Woking). They bumbled along in the old 3rd Division South and then announced their "First Division in 5 years" plan which involved splashing out on big names and ultimately led to running out of money and the QPR takeover scheme. |

For those with longer memories, the diminutive Alan Spratley didn't fare too well. |

Dyrham Park, where they filmed most of Remains of the day, is just a short bus ride away, especially if you are on the lookout for a retirement property. |

He was virtually unplayable on the bread pudding of a pitch at the Oval in 68 after the spectators had come on with blankets towels and hairdryers to dry the outfield. What did Boycott say about him? The face of a choirboy and the ruthlessness of a rat catcher? |

When I was there we had a fabulous Airbnb with a balcony overlooking the parliament and square which we used to sit on for hours at a time. There was a protest anti Orban group who used to set up in the square and get cleared out by the police every so often and we spent some time talking to them. When we were EU citizens all bus tram underground and boat travel was free for over 60s in Budapest . Yet another of life's pleasures that we have stupidly renounced. Despite this it is a marvellous city. Visit the market and check out the holocaust memorial of shoes on the river bank. |
| Forum Reply | Stan's team mates that were in attendance last night... at 14:05 8 Mar 2024
It was very poignant to see Dave Thomas with his guide dog. To me seeing Thomas storming down the wing in full flight (god he could motor!) was as enjoyable as watching Stanley drifting past defenders as if they weren't there. What a wonderful team that was. Gordon Jago (still alive and well) deserves most of the credit for creating that team. Sexton just added some expensive ballast. Gordon gave us Bowles, Givens and Thomas for £300K, and we only got Thomas due to Martyn Busby's tragedy. He also gave us Terry Mancini, the vertical header specialist, for £25k! |

First visit was 59. No idea who against or the score. All I remember was our centre forward was George Whitelaw who was a real thug. Anyone remember him? |

Jim Gregory's dastardly scheme to merge with Fulham to form Fulham Park Rangers or Hammersmith Flyovers or whatever not being scuppered. Where would we all be now if that had gone ahead? |
