Celar
at 15:50 24 Nov 2024

Just been watching some of his 2022/23 goal highlights, probably the same that our young DoF and head of recruitment watched and regardless of the standard of the Swiss league he is in, this is not the player we are watching at QPR this season. Shows pace and purpose off the shoulder of the last defender and at it in the box. Of all his penalties on the highlights of which there are about 5 all but one of them are struck to the left, he went right yesterday must have known in prep for the game that Stoke's keeper has a tendancy to dive to the right?

I have watched Celar's penalty a few times now and I am actually wondering did he miss it on purpose. The keeper had pretty much dived the other way at point of contact of foot against ball and half a goal was open the side he placed the penalty. Either his nerves are totally shot or he wants out of this nightmare, which is my thoughts, possibly haven't we all at some time taken a job, either we hate it or are out of our depth and either we just don't perform or don't fit the role, I expect his representatives are looking elsewhere for him . His stats are roughly the same each game with the amount of touches he has, now that is a worrying statistic.

Cifuentes gone?
at 14:47 24 Nov 2024

Still of the mind we stick with Marti and see how it goes, but he will be on very difficult ground if we get soundly beaten at Cardiff and Watford. Ironically in the last few seasons the games against Watford have been either make or break for the season/manager. In the covid season of 2020/21 in the January 2021 Warburton's team with a newly signed Austin and couple of others, big win there after a difficult period. In the Beale period early season 2022, a big win at Watford and we went on a great run until the wheels came off with Beale. In March 2023 the first win for Ainsworth a scrappy 1-0 at home which reversed an awful run of defeats and finally the disastrous first game of the season in 2023/24 with that 4-0 walloping for us at Watford, which pretty much did for Ainsworth in my opinion. So will history repeat itself, if it does, hopefully it will fall Marti's way and we can get a positive result at Watford. Expecting a draw at Cardiff because that is what we are good at this season.

Cifuentes gone?

I really think we should stick with Marti and let the season play out. At the moment we are hampered by injuries and lack of confidence and a poor striker, but if we can somehow bobble along and keep within 5 or 6 points of safety their is hope once Chair, Frey, JCS and a couple of signings in January can get us going. I sort of feel what will be will be and ditching Marti now will not change the picture that we are an average/poor team. I sort of think we have become an Ipswich/Sunderland of recent years where our time is up at this level and you can't keep throwing mud at it and hope it sticks. Remember Ipswich were a dead man walking stuck I think with McCarthy went down from the Championship and then had to re-build went through a couple of managers before finding their mojo with McKenna.

Agree Sealy was OK, very fast forward but tended to rush at chances rather than cooly slotting away, in comparison to Clive Allen who was coolness personified when taking his chances.

I should not do, but feel a bit sorry for Celar to me he looks like a player who does not want to be at QPR and has somehow landed here and probably wants out and go back to the Swiss league or some other central European league. Best option for both club and player is to get him loaned out back to a European club in January and see if we can get someone else in.

Need to try and get Celar loaned back to a Swiss side or someone from a European league in January and hope they buy him, because he is a waste of space in a QPR shirt. Really should be dropped and Lloyd put up front until Frey available.

Rangers v the Oat Cake Eaters match thread

Don't think that this is a game defining season. We are just a poor team, the players are just not good enough for the Championship. Don't want Marti sacked think we just run with it see where we end up and if it is League 1, so be it. We have to face facts that relegation has been staring us in the face for the last 2 seasons and the sword may now be coming down and cutting our Championship head off. I just don't feel our players are good enough, but you never know something might spark. Marti more at risk if we get soundly beaten in the next 3 games, especially at Cardiff and a drubbing at Watford like last season probably curtains for him, but we live in hope we can keep drawing and stay within 5 or 6 points of safety, start heading to 9 or 10 points adrift then we are likely to go down.

More worried about Celar than Madsen and that's not saying much about either of them. A long cold hard winter is upon us!

1973/74 Season
at 13:45 20 Nov 2024

For a tenth birthday treat in October 1973 my Dad took me to QPR v Arsenal at Loftus Road. In those early years I was an Arsenal fan, but Dad was QPR. I had never seen Arsenal at a live game but had previously been to QPR. If I remember QPR much the better team and beat Arsenal 2-0. After the game Dad took me to White City Stadium for a night of dog racing, great day out for a 10 year old. Supported Arsenal for a couple more years before transferring my allegiance to QPR in 1975.

Mark Warburton interview

I hope Marti can get us going and we stay up. Either way, stay up or go down can't see him staying next season, unless by some miracle we make a dramatic surge up the table into a top half position. If we do drop then we need a totally different dynamic in League 1 anyway. Warburton I think would be perfect to start the re-build, although as mentioned by others he has probably burned his bridges with the owners, a change of ownership and you never know. Never say never to going back especially if the circumstances are right.

This could be the answer, but with our lot they probably can't understand the signals.

Jordan Rhodes - Blackpool
at 16:01 16 Nov 2024

Just watching Blackpool v Northampton on Sky + and seeing even at 34, Jordan Rhodes still got pace, lays ball on well and proper centre forward. Blackpool signed him on a free from Huddersfield after being on loan, scored 15 for Blackpool last season, why can't we really be looking at experienced pros like this, also Northampton have Martin Waghorn on the bench again a decent striker at Championship level only signed for them a couple of weeks back after being released by Derby end of last season.

Ben Doak - Cifuentes Tactics & Team Set Up
at 12:14 16 Nov 2024

Agree we are a weak team and have been for quite a while.
Against Boro, Doak was a class act and tearing Santos to pieces. Regardless of whether Santos was played out of position I have seen nothing to suggest he is a player of the strength and quality needed at Championship level. Personally think we are a bit of a team where throw mud at the wall and hope it sticks, it seems that philosophy runs right through the club.

Mark Warburton interview

I really liked Mark Warburton as our manager, it has all gone downhill since he and Eustace left. For all the politics at play moving Eustace to manager and Warburton to DoF may have been far too extreme for QPR and our further descent into mediocrity, far too many agendas at play at Loftus Road no doubt.

We have a goal blackout every home game in the Loft End, especially from our beloved Rsss, it's like a goal desert down our end, unless you are the away team. Be interesting (maybe not) the number of goals for and against at the Loft End in last 2 seasons, expect it will be grim reading.

I don't see the point in sacking Marti, we might as well continue until end of the season and see what happens. The team is so poor and lacking quality at this level that whoever comes in won't turn this lot. This all reminds me of Ipswich of a few seasons back, Mick McCarthy became a lame duck manager and they just faded into League 1. The writing has been on the wall for the last 2 seasons we can't compete in the Championship, the dynamics of our team just does not work at this level. Think even if we survive will it be better next season who knows, standards are low. League 1 won't be easy and the current lot will need to be cleared out and some form of playing identity be installed that the fans can get behind, because it sure ain't there at all this season.

Ownership of QPR
at 21:56 11 Nov 2024

A concern here is where we fall now within the 4 major clubs in West London let alone the wider London football landscape and the attractiveness of a club that now can't compete with its 3 nearest neighbours is not much of a prospect.
