A wonderful sum up of a wonderful evening - we can now go to Coventry City on Saturday and just enjoy it! Fingers crossed for a great season next year with a great manager and some great players!
Brilliant work Clive! Hard times in W12. My next match is Bristol City on 11 November. I assume GA will be gone by then. Much though I loved him as a player and like him as a person, this cannot continue. I do wonder if we would have been better off relegated at the end of last season.
To have won half as many matches at Loftus Road in the last year as Coventry, Blackburn and Sunderland just puts into perspective what an absolute car crash the club has become.
To add to the slight surreal nature of all of this, 26 years ago today the Rs beat Man City, Karl Ready scored with a fantastic header and City were relegated to the third tier at the end of that season. At the same time Brighton were playing their home matches at Gillingham in front of 2 men and a dog.........and tonight they play relegation threatened Ajax.
It's a strange world - let's try to keep the faith everyone - hard though that is with the Rs at times.
I missed the 2008 game but was at the 1996 and 1975 games. The most memorable one for me though was the first New Years Day massacre v Utd - 1 Jan 1974 when just promoted Rangers smashed about to be relegated United 3-0. For anyone too young to recall the 1996 game here's some footage:
A lovely piece Clive. What a great, great day......10 years ago I thought a day like that would probably never ever come again. That victory was so sweet. And the SW6 knuckle draggers have woken up to the fact that the real derby is v the Rs (see below from one of their boards)
"The return fixture has taken on a bit of significance after that today. I hope we hammer them and more than that I hope that there is a tasty reception for everyone from QPR when they come to Stamford Bridge. The behaviour of their fans towards our players was such that I'm amazed no one did a Cantona."
