Big Jim loves the Dale though and thankfully I expect him to stay. There is so much potential at the club and most definitely unfinished business.
There is one thing that might also be in our favour... Burton whilst not southern is a lot further south that some might imagine. You have to be absolutely sure if your going to uproot your whole family, who I assume are pretty settled with an established routine in the North West.
Agreed the club did a great job with the Remembrance day tribute.
Dale got there in the end and on 90 minutes just about deserved the 3 points. It was a nice surprise to see TAR start the game he makes a huge difference on that RHS. Rodney back off the bench will give us some much needed strength up front in the next few games starting with Wealdstone on Saturday. Burger probably should have at least hit the target 5 minutes before we actually scored.
Not much between the two teams it could have gone either way thankfully we got the winner with the late late show.
Positives for me is the team all look really together and after 17 games we are 6th with important players returning to action.
Hard to be anything else but positive when you win in such dramatic circumstance but we do look like we are trying to score the perfect goal rather than get more crosses pinged into dangerous areas.
Up the Dale. 2-1 winners and onwards to the next game.
McNulty is a young manager who is learning all the time. No doubt he loves the club and also has best part of 3 years left on his contract. Big Jim has done a great job with recruitment and the squad are together and are currently on track for the playoffs.
Comments on here, myself included regarding defensive tactics are valid but this doesn't mean we are not behind Jim, the players and the Club. Ultimately i think Jim has to stay to further continue his education and see where he can take us. That would be my preference to have a go this season hopefully reach the playoffs and then strengthen further next summer.
Impossible to judge if Jim can get us promoted or not but so far in his tenure he gets the thumbs up and a solid 8/10 from me.
Start moving the ball more quickly that would then become 9 and a promotion back to the football league a perfect 10
We (Dale) are 0-2 down inside 3 minutes.... Both goals really poor to concede especially the 2nd that was like park football defending.
Dale then play well and get into the ascendency eventually scoring the 3rd to take the lead.
Bromley have 87 minutes to play a side that has scored 3 goals and they only need one goal to get something from the game. As it happened they scored twice.
Without that lunacy of the opening 3 minutes on the balance of play Dale have a better chance of progression in the FA Cup but you cant just forget about the first 180 seconds the damage was already done.
This side have a real chance to make the play offs this season but if we continue to gift such soft goals in the majority of games then mid table obscurity is calling.
25 seconds into the game Beckwith mistimes his clearance and we dont clear the second ball. Seconds later we are losing 0-1. I am sure the second ball fell to Burger who would love the chance again I am sure to react differently.
Then on 140 seconds a moment of madness from Hogan and we are 0-2 down and the Bromley supporters joined in with the Dale supporters head shaking in Pearl street.
Big Jim and the players have to address how we start games because this is border line comical. Gifting one goal at Barnet on 6 minutes was bad enough but that yesterday was gut wrentching.
From this point Dale looked the better side but the damage is already done. Just clear the lines until the game has settled down not try and mess around until the game pattern has established..
Credit to getting in front 3-2 up in the 90th minute.. Then Buyabu is out muscled in the corner and we enter the second crazy 2 minutes in the same game.
We have the players, cut out the nonsense and we could still have a great season.
Ignoring Tuesday Lets hope Sutton are not the next beneficiary of our charitable status.
I managed it... Just and i am ok with the basics of IT.
The site at best is clunky and could / should be improved dramatically if this is the route.
The issue is the fan base is mostly 45+ Not 21 and under.
It is not the most user friendly experience it should take 3 minutes not upwards of 10.
The club do advertise that tickets can be purchased from the club shop for those that are happy to do so and do not get on with the ever changing world.
I can see both sides. I am sure the club will get there.
We definitely have the players if we can keep the majority fit.
Lots of twists and turns to come in the final 2/3rds of the season.
Probably hover around 7/8/9/10th place. Hoping we can make a decent final push at the business end of the season, make the playoffs and take our chance.
We are simply too inconsistent and too benevolent to actually win the league. We are nice.. a nice team.. play nice football.. Nice not ruthless.
That was so much better than Saturday. Credit to Jim and the players.
Even though we had to dig in first half it was obvious that the ball was being moved around so much quicker and generally the play was at a much higher tempo.
Second half was enjoyable to watch with both sides going for it.
The team showed balls character and resilience to score a winner 5 minutes after Halifax made it 1-1. The skill from Allarakhia to jink past 2 defenders, create a quarter yard of space and deliver a perfect cross was first class. Nice header to back across the goal wrongfooting the keeper.
Nothing to fear on Saturday I just continue to hope that the template for a more exciting gameplan has been realised and we see more of last night type performance rather than what was served up on Saturday.
Up the Dale... 27 points on the board 1/3 of the season gone. Pro rata that to 81 points and a top 7 finish.
Much happier this morning what a difference a win and 3 points make.
I dont expect Halifax to sit in with 2 deep banks of 5 and a 4 so that could help our style.. if we can find a home style that the Manager players and supporters all identify with.
Acknowledged that we have a few out that when fit would definitely start.
Gilmour Rodney and Tar plus Sassi & McNicholas to name 5.
We have a more than decent squad and the injury list should be a real chance for the players on the fringe to step up and cement their own place in the starting XI. When these fringe players get their chance they look really off the pace, restricted, frustrated and generally confused as to how to influence the game.
One final example is East he is a magnificent player one of the best in the division when he is driving towards goal in the final 3rd. We are not getting any value when he is almost touching hands with the Centre half on his own 18 yard line.
To finish on a positive I really did think Allarakhia was the one Dale player prepared to actually take on the Southend defenders and was our stand out shining light. We also looked more like Dale with the introduction of Henderson and McBride who sparked a little in the final 3rd.
Anyway its a local Derby in 24 hours time I am really hoping we can take the game by the scruff of the neck and play like we all know we can.
Up the Dale - I am going for a home win tomorrow to put the Saturday nightmare to bed.
The slow play has slowed even further to a point of the game almost stopping.
Hogan on more than one occasion was stood over a stationary ball for several seconds to then play the safest of safe passes to either Beckwith or Gordon. They then gave the ball back to Hogan for this nonsense to continue.
Throw in the very occasional forward ball to either Henry or East who have dropped so deep its a 10 yard pass whilst they are facing their own goal. It really is a soul destroying spectacle.
Several times yesterday (quite a few occasions) we did not cross the half way line whilst in possession. Southend just pressed - waited for a heavy touch and got the ball back far to easily. Get the ball wide / forward / quicker FFS.
Play the goal back several passages of play and it resulted in us giving the ball away far too cheaply. It was coming.. again like Solihull we just giftwrapped and handed over any initiative not that we had any in that first half. Southend very quickly realised they were onto something and it was a cringe able embarrassing watch that first half.
If this continues for any length of time not only will we drop to mid-table obscurity but we have zero chance of getting any more fans through the gate.
If McNulty will not change then I think its up to the fans to start showing some vocal displeasure in this turgid style that the manager is persevering with.
I think enough really is enough. The deserved boos that could be heard at full time will only get louder unless some pace and some passion is shown when we cross the white line.
