We had a very small squad, one which was starting to be badly hit by injury. We were playing a very good Gateshead team and got well beaten. What’s your point? |

Nah, totally disrespected the premier non league competition and all other clubs. But more importantly the Oldham fans who travelled and those who were hopeful of a good cup run. Such a shame. That’s some commute. |

There’s no being fair here though, it’s about the facts. A real show of disrespect to the competition, to non league football, to their supporters and to the name of Oldham Athletic. Quite sad to see how far they’ve fallen as a club isn’t it? |

I agree it’s a shame that Oldham didn’t go any further in a competition they showed disrespect for, along with the disrespect they showed their fans as well. |

Previously on this subject… —— This was raised at the Trust AGM last weekend, and reported as follows: https://www.daletrust.co.uk/2024/11/trust-2024-agm/ “ Reference was made to the statement made by the Club regarding the new format of future AGMs, without the opportunity of a forum taking place once AGM business is concluded. A date for a Fans Forum will closely follow the AGM to allow participation to include all fans, and not limited to shareholders.” Except it was specifically asked whether the decision to change the AGM format was challenged when the Trust had their meeting with the club. —— That last point remains unanswered. |

Presumably the “full reply” will address all the questions. |

Yeah, but the club may consider a 9am kick off on a Monday if we get through. |

Which is why the Trust should actually be seen to ensure they’re looking to seek such explanations. And that doesn’t mean trying to explain things from the club’s point of view when their members raise questions. Attitude and culture are best shown by the smaller things. No matter how irrelevant some may think they are. |

Indeed. It’s a working day for many. Presumably the Trust will be representing this fact on behalf of not only all of its members who have shares both individually and as part of the Trust’s shareholding, but also all other supporters who may wish to attend. There is no reason for it not to be in the evening. If there is, let’s hear it. |

Over the last couple of years it’s been good to see the increase in families in the bars, the activities they’ve put on will have helped too. We could do a lot more, but there does at least to be more of an age shift towards younger fans attending as seen in the Sandy. The Community Trust do a lot of good work in all age groups too, as seen on their website. |

The AGM was meant to be on Tuesday, so this would need to be rearranged too now. |

Whilst there is valid criticism of the way we’ve played at home this season, chucking 11 players out on a pitch who won’t have ever played together before and expecting much more probably wasn’t realistic. When most fans have openly admitted they don’t care about the competition, hard to have a go at the manager for not getting them to produce something spectacular. His tactics aren’t negative. They’re just not as effective as they could and should be. They were fine at Gateshead last week. |

No, it isn’t. The Trust were looking to support the club to improve the pitches and facilities around the building which presumably housed changing rooms. Where the pitches were is still there. The school was built on an area next to it From a story on this site dated April 2009: “ Rochdale Supporters Trust is hoping to kick start Rochdale Football Club’s dream of owning its own training ground. The Trust has been approached by the club’s board of directors in the hope of raising funds for pitch improvements at Bowlee; with the long term aim of improving the facility so that the club can train there full time. Initially the Trust is hoping to give £2000 to the club to spend on pitch improvements at Bowlee, with a further £2000 to come in the summer. Before the Trust can release the funds we need the support of our members so we have called an EGM to take place immediately after the Darlington game in the hope that you will give the project the green light. The initial pitch improvements are the start of a long term project in which the club, with the support of the Trust, hopes to bring the Bowlee facility up to standard, with the pitches and changing rooms owned solely by the football club. The estimated cost of the whole project is in the region of £30,000 and the club hopes to raise the money and become owners of the Bowlee facility within the next year. If the Trust can get the backing of its members for this project, we will gear a number of our events over the coming months towards raising money so that one day in the near future Rochdale Football Club will finally own its own training facility. The EGM for members will take place immediately after the Darlington home game on Saturday 18 April in the Dale Bar. All members should bring their membership cards for voting purposes.” Edit: story didn’t copy! [Post edited 1 Dec 20:22]
