Its still all Keiths fault on 14:50 - Apr 18 by dingdangblue | By their own admission the club was on its knees during those last few weeks under Hilly - for what ever reason he'd lost the players and they were down. I wouldn't compare it to Coleman taking over here with us at the bottom of league 1 rather when Hilly took over from Parkin and the complete turnaround we had - to me Flicker has done that there - yes they are still in the relegation places but 50 points at this stage and still in the bottom 3 is unprecedented I imagine. The form of Peterborough who also looked down isn't helping matters. They have found themselves a gem in Flicker and it might do them the world of good as a club to drop down a level and have some success and stability for a change rather than struggle year after year dismissing manager after manager. |
I'd broadly go along with that. It's a bit of a false debate (as AtThePeake has already tried to point out) because you can never really compare like with like - every club is different and every managerial takeover has its own set of circumstances. For us, it's entirely hypothetical. For Barnsley, our only interest is keeping an eye on Flickers career. With the board at Barnsley's track record, I fear he could be unjustly turfed out should they go down. They could lose both their championship status and possibly their best means of regaining it - Flicker! [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Last season Barnsley stayed up with 48 points. Generally the last relegation place is 40-47 points. Will be tough on whoever joins Bristol City.

I know I'm not everyones cup of tea, but I really wish you and Keith the best of luck going forward in your future endeavours. You're a decent crowd on here, in the main (dingdangblue and 442 especially, despite everything). And I applaud you all who support Dale, regularly, week in week out. Like us, you're surrounded by bigger clubs and so it would have been easier to jump aboard one of those bandwagons over the years. Fair play to you. I can certainly relate to that. Lots of love/respect, Andy.

I have enjoyed your debating, albeit you have been a bit "moody" in the past. Have to pull you up on your comment "Like us, you're surrounded by bigger clubs". City, Utd, Blackburn. v Sheffield Utd, Owls, Leeds. Most of your MB posters think your bigger than those clubs, Whitey. Our bigger clubs are bigger than your bigger clubs.

I think most BFC fans with an ounce of integrity would admit that those 3 clubs are bigger than us, certainly historically. And I'm a moody basterd. No denial there. I blame Thatcher.

Its still all Keiths fault on 17:00 - Apr 19 with 832 views | ColDale | I think the bigger clubs nearby argument gets overplayed. Yes there's tons of Man U and City fans in Rochdale, but the positives are that we are arguably in the footballing hotbed of the entire world- I bets there's not many regions with so many professional clubs in such a small area, and the inter town rivalries adds to the support rather than detracts from it. There are other teams of a similar size to our own, such as Torquay, Burton, York etc without big clubs on the doorsteps who's crowds aren't really better than ours (in general rather than in one off seasons).
