If Kennedy is sold and i think it could happen, then it is very likely that there won't be any of the players from the promotion season left for the start of next season as I think it is widely accepted that both Holness and Thompson don't figure in Colemans plans. |
Thompson wouldn't have been offered a deal if that was the case.
Jones has been a great representative for the club over the years and maybe a new club will suit him at this stage in his career. It's probably the best move for all concerned. |  |

The club certainly has an empty feel at the moment, losing Jones was always going to do that, but no room for sentiment, his best times were probably behind him after our first year in L1, and in the same breathe I applaud JC for having the balls to do it. |  |

Can only agree with what's already been said. Felt as though Jonah was dragging the whole club along with him at times during his two spells.
I'm certain I'll have missed a few names off here, but this gives you an idea of what positions need filling (pending a possible influx on 1st July):

Now Jones has gone it seem like the heart has been ripped out of the squad. As dramatic as that sounds, I think that his immense contribution to the club over the years will be remembered for a long long time. Anyway, things have changed, and for Jonah, to move on now is probably a wise decision. It will take a little time to rebuild, but I am looking forward to a strong core of players in the squad that can give us something to cheer about. Good luck Jonah and many thanks for your services to the club. Like others have said, a true Dale legend.

For us to have any chance of progress under Coleman then he has to have complete control and the chance to make his own squad. I am glad that it is Jones going rather than Coleman and I think it very possibly had to be one of them going. Jones is an absolute Dale legend and I too would be happy to name him as Rochdale's Grestest Ever Player. However, time to move on and this gives us a chance to build a new team - and we need that. I hope we see Jonah back at Spotland in some capacity one day to get the reception he deserves.
Onwards and upwards. I am slowly beginning to get excited for next season but we just now need to see the new signings and a few more players shipped out prior to pre-season. |  |

Thanks for all the hard work and great memories Jonah. It was your performance at Southampton - surging run to put COG in forthe first goal, and the sweetest strike to seal a stunning victory, that epitomised the transformation of Dale from perennial strugglers to over-achievers.

I was lucky enough to have seen Sir Reg Jenkins perform his wonderful stuff in his prime. I never thought I would witness another player to show such passion and loyalty over many seasons until Gary Jones came along.
I doubt anyone cared as much about winning (or losing)as Gary and I doubt we will ever see that passion again.
Worry about what comes afterwards once we have all recorded our gratitude as fans for an extraorinary servant to Rochdale F.C.
