Sad news that Dale fan and matchday commissionaire Gerry Dawson has died today.
Any fans who used to go into the reception/main stand area at home matches will know Gerry as one of the chaps at the bottom of the stairs.
A real stalwart who could always be guaranteed to be there every game and with a welcoming smile and handshake for everyone, especially directors and guests from visiting clubs. |  |

Like others on here, I too have known Gerry for over 40 years. Also like a previous poster, he took me under his wing when I first started work from school, prior to entering my chosen career. I cant speak highly enough of him. I was deeply upset when I read it first on the OS. I echo every sentiment posted on here and it just shows what a great guy he was and he will be missed by so many in the football world and beyond. I just hope that his family see this thread to read what he meant to so many people.
