Loan Deal for Alfie Tuck on 11:48 - Sep 28 with 2516 views | DWQPR | To be honest at that age he should be loaned out to League Two clubs at worst. We’ve seen too many of these so called starlets being loaned to non-league and lower non-league at that and the simple truth is that they are not good enough hence the cull this last summer. Look at Drewe now, he has gone to Oxford City because that is his level. Kakay can’t find a club at all. And any other kid that has been released has struggled to find a club. Need to be honest with these kids. If Tuck doesn’t stand out in these three months at Enfield then that is a big indicator of his future.

Tuck is only just 18, whereas Drewe, Pedder etc were still being loaned out at 21 +. It's for 3 months to get some mens football experience. I imagine in January he'll be loaned out again to higher league team, if he has done well.

At that age..18? The lad was only promoted to the dev squad last yr and he should be walking into a L1/L2 club starting lineup? If he was, he'd be on our bench today. Just a taste of men's football for an 18yr old kid, probably more for mental toughness than actual football development. Fine by me. If he's still at that level end of next season then it'd be concerning, as for now let him develop and see how he grows.

He will have to make a huge difference to Enfierld Town if they are outside the relegation places when his loan finishes!

40 years ago we were sticking in teenagers of the likes of Allen, Goddard, Waddock, Neill, Dawes, Macca etc against Division 1 and 2 sides. But they were good enough. Nothing about building up their physicality although I suppose that they had the advantage of cutting their teeth in the Football Combination.

Two points to make. 1. You can't go on loan in the EFL outside of the transfer windows. 2. I don't know what the levels of non league clubs are, or who else might have been looking for a non league loan but Enfield is pretty local. He won't have to uproot his life and he might even be able to spend some of the week training with us.

He came on as sub. Enfield were poor and he looked a cut above. When I say poor they were very poor. Got the last twenty. Will be their best player I should imagine. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Loan Deal for Alfie Tuck on 10:32 - Oct 1 with 1468 views | derbyhoop | I see Henry Hawkins, a Dev Squad CB, has been released. His contract was only extended in May. So it seems an odd decision However, he's signed for Whitehawk in Isthmian League (tier 7) so it doesn't look like he'd ever make Championship level.

I find this very odd. He always looked very promising when I saw him play, seemed well thought of by the club and he's a QPR fan. He's better than a 7th tier player. I can only think something has gone wrong behind the scenes for the lad.
Loan Deal for Alfie Tuck on 10:59 - Oct 1 with 1366 views | aston_hoop | Hawkins will be 21 soon and probably a good time to go build his career elsewhere while we give younger players a go at centre back. Not sure he's a football league standard player but hopefully he proves me wrong, just because he's an Rs fan and we all want nice things for fellow Rs.

He only got a year deal back in 2023, then they extended it for 6 months, probably to see if he could step up. He had 18 months to show he could do it, but he is 21 now. Big difference now, compare that to Shodipo still being loaned at 25. Its brutal, but signing for Whitehawk tells us where he was. Also, reading on the link, some mentioned a NDA being signed, these can be pretty standard, especially if the family are vocal - see his Dad's comments from a couple of years ago. Bit ironic that he was moaning that QPR were keeping players 20 years old +, rather than giving others a chance! Careful what you wish for. Hope he moves back up the ladder.

Came out the previous year with Deon Woodman under Ainsworth when all (or both) or our centre backs got injured. Woodman looked the much better prospect in my opinion, now at Wealdstone
