Hornets on Sunday 19:31 - Feb 24 with 299663 viewsEllDale

They’re tweeting that their “matchday operations” are being restricted for the home game against Barrow on Sunday for reasons that they don’t want to divulge at the moment.
The bottom line is that the crowd capacity is limited to 920 and there will be no cash admissions on the day.
Wonder what that’s all about?

Will be interesting. I can only count 10 contributors to the Hornets Board in recent weeks. That forum isn't the voice of hornets fans - indeed we all suspect that half the posters are indeed the management. So how will they engage the other fans seeing as so few use social media, or even care.

Me? I lost my clique membership as I’ve not been in for god knows how long (take note, Pioneer, as I know you’re interested in where people drink). If I finish early enough at work depending on where in the NW I am (hi CW) , I don’t see why not.

"our" office space - "our" retail facility he bleats in a "club statement".

You own nowt at Spotland, Andy. Nothing. Those spaces are not "yours", they belong to RAFC.

The "If you want to get involved, show us your money" angle is a nice defence. Otherwise, just stagger along, doing what they’ve (almost) always done, and hopefully someone with a fat cheque book might come along and they can have a good season or two. "Own" the Hornets in name, but put naff all in. Unlike our current board who have paid for shares in RAFC - a lot more than Hornets board have.

It's the same old, same old, just a hobby for the privileged few who put a few bob in and therefore have entitlement. Do they still get blazers and ties to signify "importance"?

From being fan owned back to being a parasite. What a bad, sad, move by Hornets fans.

Whilst his public spats aren't good and do him no credit, had Mazey not stepped in, Hornets were gone as a club that is a fact. Neither myself or yourself know how much Mazey and his fellow directors have put in the club. What I can say is that they have significant sponsorship that now promotes a Professional club, Womens team and Wheelchair team. He also sponsors Mayfield players. Income from gates is poor and income from the Rugby League is almost non existent, so money must be coming from somewhere? overall I think he deserves a lot of credit. To Andy I would say stop the public spats and continue the good work you are doing, for Rochdale Hornets.

Without being too pedantic I think it’s the firm he works for who sponsor the Mayfield lads.
I don’t think it’s his personal money.
Having said that he did arrange it.

I see that Hornets captain Sean Penkywicz has announced his retirement with immediate effect.
One of the senior members of the team and very much a Matt Calland man.

Sorry but this does the football club little credit. They may pay a low rent, they may be truly disliked by Dale Supporters, they may be an irritant to the Dale directors, but they still play at Spotland and this does nothing to help the situation. Memories of 1988 are short, Dale on the brink.....dispite the change in circumstances of the 2 clubs since then, I wonder what Chris Dunphy who tried to ensure Hornets future at Spotland thinks of the whole situation.

That sign was up on Tuesday.

Has nobody from Hornets (including Mazey / Kerr) been there during the week? Especially after making much noise about needing a very specific office space? Why wait until now to raise it? & why do it so publicly?

Some of the tweets being 'liked' by Mazey are ridiculous & inflammatory.

Absolutely spot on. I wonder if they’ve moved out their stuff including the memorabilia the football club was accused of doing. Mazey is happy to let that particular rumour spread without saying anything isn’t he but jumps on the removal of signage straight away. Funny that.

He tweeted to a Dale fan to “stay classy”

tbf its not like there was ever a massive "welcome to Rochdale Hornets" sign there

I think this is what was up:

It refers to a reception and ticket office which are no longer housed there. Would be misleading to stick with that.

Prior to that, it was something very similar referencing reception / ticket office

How come his Twitter pic shows him with Gary Neville and Nicky Butt instead of something relevant to Hornets?

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Bit silly to plaster the name of your company all over your bio too. He seems a bit dim though to be fair.
