Trump refers to US war dead as Suckers and Losers. on 10:32 - Sep 28 by Gwyn737 | I would if he based his persona on being rich and successful. As I said before, this won’t matter to his supporters as they see not paying tax as an achievement. However, in the climate of personality politicians a businessman who lost money running a casino is a hellava line. |
Why? Wouldn't his performance be more important than his persona? He will have more money than all of us on this forum put together that's for sure, exactly how much is his business. Doesn't matter what side of the fence you are on, it's just personal tittle tattle really. If he has done wrong with taxes then the tax office don't discriminate, in fact they had a very long wrangle, if he hasn't then good for him. It really doesn't make a difference to anything at all.

Trump refers to US war dead as Suckers and Losers. on 03:30 - Sep 11 by Glyn1 | Personally, I do accept that he might be less well off in 2020 than he was in 2016 (I won't say poorer). At some point the amount of money you have doesn't really matter any more. I think most of us could manage on 50 million dollars or whatever, so anything above that is a bonus to be set aside for our hobbies, like running for President. To be fair to Trump, he isn't the only one to do this because Mitt Romney was the same. |
They take a hit whilst in office but they earn very well when they leave. The Clintons are said to have made $250 million just from speeches since Bill left office. Blair charges £400k for an hour speech. It’s good work if you can get it.

Again, I don’t think it does make a big difference. My point is that it is a newsworthy story.

Isn’t it more about the lack of tax paid as opposed to earnings?

For the last 3 and a half years he hasn't earned any money, if you remember, he is isolated from his business and donates his Presidential income to various charities of his choice. It may be as you say "newsworthy" to the MSM, but of course the Millions the Bidens got from Ukraine, the 3.5 Million junior got from corrupt Russians and the Billions the family got from China aren't in the slightest bit newsworthy. What about the other 6 1/2 years? The Biden think has been discussed at length in another thread so I’ll refrain from commenting apart from saying that that’s not ok either.

Which will be tricky for the Trump campaign to deal with because of the successful businessman narrative. It’s been years now that his tax returns have been in the news. You can’t be surprised that now the information is available there’s a big splash? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Its not a narrative its the truth, the guy is one of the most successful businessmen in American history and one of the great success stories in world history I would suggest. If I made a billion dollars for decades and then didn't make anything for the last decade due to various reasons, it wouldn't not make me a successful businessman. I don't care if there is a big splash, there was a big splash when Katie Price got bigger boobs too, probably as relevant too. My point is that it is irrelevant to anything.

But there is a lot of difference between Corporate (Business) tax and personal tax. He is business and property rich and cash poorer, like many businessmen after the financial crash. What he pays in personal tax has little to do with his financial "worth" as you should know.

If you re-invest your earnings in business expansion you offset the taxes, I am sure that he has a very good set of accountants. Building business empires takes a lot of investment and can go wrong at any time due to externalities as well as poor business acumen. But his perfomance and work ethic as President is as good as any previous President.

Indeed and ended up on of the most successful (if not THE) Presidents in modern US history. Im pretty sure he couldn’t care less what people think of clever accounting, just as the likes of Andre Ayew and anyone else who earns a lot won’t care how people think of their accounts. They are personal.

I think we’ll have to agree and disagree. We agree that it won’t impact on voting but disagree on the newsworthiness element. I think it’s massive and will feature everywhere all the way up to the election. You’re free to argue it shouldn’t but I’m pretty confident it will.

Of course it will the Democrats and Globalists that run the MSM will ensure that it does. While at the same time hiding what the Bidens, FBI, DOJ, CIA and the Democrats did. Nothing new about that.
