""Although I cannot promise or predict the future, I can guarantee one thing - the current board of directors will always fight, as we have done over the last 12 years, to work together as one with the Supporters Trust to make 100% sure that Swansea City football club remains the number one priority in all our thoughts and in every decision we make." Yes. I can’t tell whether he deflected it in or nearly deflected it out. Can’t say I care either way though.

The difference is that if he deflected it in it isn't Wayne's goal, but Byers didn't look bothered, just full of joy for the club.

How’s that work then? If a ball deflects of a defender it isn’t automatically an own goal so if it deflected of Byers why wouldn’t it be Wayne’s goal?

It depends to a great extent on whether or not the original shot was on target. I was just glad Byers was onside. [Post edited 31 Aug 2019 20:45]

Yeah, the shot and intent was Routledge’s, Byers contribution was not significant enough to give him the goal.

It depends on whether or not it was missing the goal.

That's only the case for an own goal. For a shot deflecting off an attacking player, it gets credited to him regardless of whether the shot was on target or not. Anyway, it's a moot point as I think byers got out of the way of it.
