Wondering if any of you guys could help me. I’m having six points taken off my license for failing to name a driver in a motoring offence. The problem is I’ve worked for various different companies and used different rental vehicles since the original offence which I don’t yet know what that was as I didn’t receive notification of the original motoring offence.
Basically I’m supposed to have done something minor like run a red light or been papped speeding or somebody at one of the companies I’ve worked at has been driving the vehicle and stuck my name down to get out of the offence. Either way I haven’t received notification and have now been told I will receive six points on the back of failing to notify them who was driving at the time of an offence which I didn’t know was commited.
Does anybody have experience of the DVLA or appealing motoring offences in general?
They would pass your debt on to a firm of bailiffs and the likelihood of you appearing on some naff Chanel five program about debt collectors that demonises people that get get into debt and the poor would increase.
It's happened, (not a naff program, the passing on to bailiffs) I know how to legally deal with it.

Councils more than any others are likely to prosecute in the event of failure to pay. Unless there is an error in law, you will be pursued for payment.

What exactly do you mean by "pursued"?

Legislation is the collective term for all 'laws'. I'm not sure what your point is.
Legislation is man made and fluid ie not set in stone. Law is intransigent. Legislation is dictated by whom ever is given the reigns of governmental power and can be changed at the whim of any other legislative council.

Surely if your former employer sent the letter to your old address, that means they can't charge you as you wouldn't have been aware? Can't you get a letter from the employer saying you wouldn't have received it?

I was travelling down Roch Valley Way recently towards the Sudden junction. There are two sets of lights set about 30 yds apart and a slip road to the left to go onto Manchester Road also with lights. As I approached, the 2 sets of lights to go forward and also the slip road lights all turned red.I therefore pulled up at the first set of reds as I was going straight on. Immeadiately the car behind started honking and waving his arms about in a right old tant and bellowing that I should go through the first red light and pull up at the second set. A cyclist at my side confirmed this. I am not denying they may be right although the chap in the cars reaction for the sake of 30 yds was a bit over the top. My point is that its in my DNA not to pass a traffic light on red. Can anyone aware of this set up comment? ps Since using this junction I have noted that others pull up at the first set of reds as I did. I am confused and intrigued.

The simple answer is that you must obey the signals controlling the lane in which you are driving. The lights ahead are of no concern until you reach that point, regardless of how far it is.
I am aware of that junction and the phasing could be better, but you were correct in stopping at the red light, as everyone should ( but which some 'modern' drivers see as a challenge).

You were correct and Mr knob head behind you wrong.
There is a filter lane to your right ( from Sudden Village ) and when you were on red, this phase has the right to go on green and sit in front of you at the first set of lights you mention.
if a car was coming from Sudden village on green and you ignored the red there is a likely scenario of a collision.
The honking driver is obviously a right tit ( as was the cyclist )

A red light is a red light. There is no filter before the first lights if memory serves, just 2 lanes leading up to a red light. You did the right thing to wait until the red light changes.

You drive to the rules,and if its a red light you stop is the simple answer.
There's a roundabout in Worsley near me where everyone pays no attention whatsoever to what the road markings actually say,apparently when I forced someone(in the wrong lane) to slam on,I'm not aware of "local knowledge" with regard to driving rules.
So if everyone "local"decides to drive at 100mph it's perfectly legal too, yes good one I'll use that in court.

The first red light is there to allow pedestrians to cross the junction from and to the old Manchester road. So yes you have to stop there.

It's an odd one that, as there are then 2 lanes for the continuation of the A627M. I think the signage should be changed to make the middle lane either/or.
Update for all interested. I made a statutory declaration in October saying I knew nothing of the case and have had my day in court today and been cleared of all chargers. I will be seeing if I can file legal proceedings against my old employer #maga
On another point regarding Sudden Junction. Coming from Castleton on Manchester Rd, in front of Tesco there is a bus lane. I am normally turning left onto Roch Valley Way, and I filter to the left once I have cleared the solid white line marking the bus lane. There is no sign to show enforcement cameras, so I assume there are none. There is a dome camera on top of a pole, I suspect for cctv only. Anyone been done for going in the bus lane? I have seen drivers move into the bus lane from the bus stop opposite Tesco.

Be very careful with the 'should be ignored' phrase.
There are many parking companies who daily take people to court for failing to pay legally enforceable fines and to their cost, motorists can then be several HUNDREDS of pounds out of pocket afterwards.
Private parking is a matter of contract. Parking is permitted only under the circumstances and conditions set out in the notice(s) displayed at that location. If the signs have been placed legally (many have failed to seek planning permission, thereby rendering them illegal) then you are bound by the conditions if you choose to enter and park.
If ever a letter arrives with the heading 'Letter Before Action' you would be well advised to either pay up or seek urgent legal advice because you will quickly find tourself the subject of a CCJ. Whatever else you do, do not ignore it. If, after judgement, you then pay up within 28 days, the record will be expunged, if not, the debt remains on your credit file for seven years.
Definitely do not ignore as they will take you to court. I went once and won, I'd put my wife's reg number on the ticket instead of mine, case got thrown out. Second time for parking over the lines. Was set for court but really couldn't be bothered and came to an arrangement with the thieving shlts.
You can't get a CCJ until the case has been to court, you've lost. and failed to pay the fine.
