Southampton have not scored in 8 of their last home games yet Charlie Austin never gets a start. How the hell they think Long is a better forward than him I really do not know. Charlie always struck me as being a journeyman player someone who was grateful for the opportunity to play football at a high level. What a complete waste that the hardly plays nowadays when his career is not exactly at the start. Mind you one hundred large a week probably helps. Sad in my opinion.

I think we would all love it, love it, LOVE IT if this happened!! I know I would.

I would love it as well, it would transform team/season - but that applies to about 100 other players as well and they ain't coming here either!

Or is he?

Lovely piece of 'stating the bleeding obvious' journalism there.

He's 1/3 to stay where he is and shortest price on another club is 8/1 - so does it

a) Really warrant a story and

b) need to state 'staying where he is seems the most likely outcome'!

Unlikely. Given we couldn;t get Clint Hill over the line.

Came on late yesterday with another striker who scored a worldy, than that player shouted at manager he should have started.

Not sure where that leaves Mr A, who looked a little overweight on admittedly brief glimpse I saw of him on MOTD.

but still able to be in the 6 yard box if needed for the goal that was scored.

The grass is always greener.

Stranger things have happened. Maybe he misses feeling the love? 😘

Not saying it could happen but hardly comparable with Clint Hill

Except for the problem that we couldn't offer Clint the money he wanted or the game time.

Even if we did get Charlie back there would be that horrible risk of him sitting on the bench with Sylla and Smith while Washington and Mackie try to amass 20 goals between them in their entire careers (much as I love them both).

Never knowingly right.

If he had passed to Charlie, he would have been offside!
