Rangers in a Relegation Battle? 23:07 - Feb 1 with 4137 viewscoolranger

Pretty good performance today from Rangers against a strong Newcastle side on their home patch. Well worth a point from a game I'd written off as a 3-0 defeat.

Just wondered how confident everyone is that Rangers won't get sucked into a genuine relegation battle? Probably need 18-20 points from our last 17 games.

I like to think this side has enough to end up 16th or so, but ...then again, I'm not convinced.

I think we'll always be in a battle this season but not get dragged too deep into it. We cant get complacent again like we did against Burton.
We wont get relegated.

Well judging by tonight's performance I'd say we have a reasonable chance of staying out of real trouble.

Still need another little run though.

With Manning, Goss, Wszołek, Morrison, Lua Lua, Luongo, Cousins, Doughty, Hall (counting him in this) and Petrasso, we have a pretty decent and strong midfield core to select from.

If they can all fire and play as well as we know most of them can, we should be okay.

Never knowingly right.

That Burton games was a real rickett. If we had beaten them we would be 12 points clear of the relegation zone and, perhaps more importantly, we would have had eight teams between us and the dotted line rather than three. The run-in from April is really tough.

Fortunately for us, we seem to have found a system and style that works away from home and are picking up points away from Loftus Road, something the other bottom sides are struggling to do.

If we can tighten up a bit more at home and turn those Burton results to draws at least, I'm sure we'll be fine! Famous last words

I think we'll finish 12th-14th this season if all the new signings gel - which won't be easy.
Can't see us being dragged into a relegation scrap though.

9 points form relegation.

Depends how pessimistic/opitimistic you are if you consider that "in a battle" or merely observing the battle from the sidelines!

I'll feel a lot more confident if we can find a way to play against the sh it teams.

That's always been QPR though , beat the best one week and out play them only to lose to Coventry or some other crap team the next

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

True, PP and Steve,

Traditionally, though, we always lost to the small teams because we took them for granted. At the moment, we're struggling because we can't break down teams that defend against us rather than come at us. I don't think we'll be relegated or anything close to it but, like you Steve, I'll be happier when we find a way around this problem.

We don't have long on the training ground before Saturday's game either.

Yup, around about 13th place is where we'll end up.

But with that sort of finish, what target does Ollie set for next season? Top 10? Not very inspiring.
And if that's the case, I suspect TF, who seems to have finally got the memo about not interfering, will want out. (Then we may end up with new owners who want to change everything again.)

Home games are the new bonus games.

Can't really say any of the games left are a banked win. Burton was a very bad result in-between the Fulham and NU hard won draws some may say they were bonus points but not doing you any good if you losing what should be a win.

Don't think we will go down but not out of the woods yet.

I am finally feeling very positive about our direction with recruitment, passion and leadership on (and off) the pitch
I am even planning a trip back home to see the team after around 10 years
I feel a promotion push starting next season

Expect we'll stay just the right side of danger until the end of the year, probably ending up around where we are now.

If Holloway can build some momentum, this year will closely resemble 2009/10 when Warnock took over (albeit a little later in the season). Might mean we can look forwards to a more exciting time next season.

A heavy loss last night would've meant the Burton result could've been potentially season defining
The result last night coupled with the way we played shifts that

A win on Saturday and I'll be confident of comfortable mid table

It's certainly going to be hard and we cannot afford anymore losing streaks. I like to think a three game buffer is usually enough to keep you where you want to be as teams below you need to be bang in form and winning 4 to overtake you. However our goal difference is a concern.

If ODH was still at the helm I'd be saying choose a location to scatter our ashes in May but Ollies got us firing so here's hoping

Not on yesterday's showing. Terrific effort from our lads against the top team after the world's worst start. Never envisaged that after such a beginning.

Freeman and Goss, admittedly after hardly any time to judge, both look like they want the ball. One of the most underrated and most important attributes a player can have and something we've badly needed for ages.

Lua Lua not really my sort of player. Hopefully Ravel can oust him pronto.

That Newcastle team - greasy, whinging bunch of wimps.
