Beer help ! 21:41 - May 31 with 25363 viewsactonman

I have noted quite a few posters on here have a good taste for some proper real ale and beer. Now my normal tipple would be the usual fosters / Stella commercial stuff (mainly down to getting it cheap) but am getting a bit bored of the same old same old.
Went in to Asda today to have a look at what they do and I must say I dont know where to start ?

Hobgoblins , speckled hens , ipa .... Don't know where to start.

Any experts with some recommendations please ( no light ale p!sswater though )

Wow Konk you've just summed up my drinking habits of the last 5 years, must also add Meantime Fools Gold to the list.

There's a great bar next to Cannon Street station called the 'Pelt Trader' which is worth a visit for its beer selection.

I did the Meantime Brewery tour a while back ago. The Fools Gold is indeed good, as were most of the beers we sampled. I read somewhere that they've recently sold out to one of the multinationals (SAB Miller maybe) though. Not sure this is a good sign.

Been getting into the American style ipa's for some time now. They are not cheap but worth it imo. Some suggestions; thorn bridge jaipur, bristol beer factory southville hop, lagunitas ipa, Sierra nervada torpedo, fullers wild river, Cotswold brewery ipa, kona firerock and many more. Anchor steam is a lovely lager. Meantime Yakima red something different. Also Belgian ales of course leffe is always worth a mention, waitrose do a lovely dark ale think it's westmalle trappist. Find it very difficult to go back to Stella etc these days, my taste buds have got so used to the hops and other strong tastes.

Yep, nice ale.

I had tons of it for free at the O2 last time too as my mate knows Jannick Gers and his bro Splendid!

Wish I had read that before buying 4 leffes earlier....economy beer time...4 for a fiver. Will give that one a try. Goose island is a decent one for sure. Anchor Liberty and anchor IPA two more top choices.

I love lots of Belgian beer but Leffe is much too sweet for me. Can't finish even one bottle.

Anyone been on the Fullers Brewery tour and shop?
My mate went yesterday ,said it was good. Only £7 plus you get to test out loads of beer worth a lot more than £7.

Occasional providers of half decent House music.

No, but I have been on the thoroughly old world experience of the Wadworth (of 6X fame) brewery tour in Devises. Took my wife who found the tasting not to her liking, so I swapped my car keys for her fine selection of one-third pints, and blob's yer uncle.

As an all day drink on draught, Pride is your best choice hands down.
Decent strength without being brain damaging, that would be trying to sup ESB continuously. There is no beer like it. I swear they lie about the strength. Twelve pints of that = oblivion.

Try Punk IPA at The Brew Dog on the Goldhawk Road - you'll thank me!

Done it twice now and going to give it another go soon. Last time I went, the barman turned out to be an Rs fan, so the post tour drinks went down really well!

Had this in Izlington on Monday, 7.1% marvelously fruity. 6 pints of it really hit the spot.
